Default Yay!

Just wanted to say how excited I am that I have keyless entry remote again! I had one when I first got my '00 beetle in '05, but it broke and I eventually lost it. Thought I had lost my key in the sand at the beach over the weekend, but turns out it was in a bag. Closest VW to me is Team Volkswagen in Merrillville, IN. I had already ordered a replacement for $250, and when I called to cancel they said it had already been cut but I didn't have to buy it. They offered it to me for $164 programming included. I asked instead about programming a valet key that I had that has never been able to drive the car (only unlocks doors) and they said that would cost $60 to program. I told them I would think about it and call them back. I ended up calling back and telling them that I would take the key if they could give it to me for $150.00, the guy puts me on hold and then comes back on the line and says yes. The key was in the next day and I made an appointment for the following day. My mom took it in while I was at work and they ended up giving me the new key and programming my valet key for $151 total! What a deal imo. Mike and Jeffrey are the parts salespeople there. Great guys. Just goes to show you can haggle the dealership, so hope this helps someone. I have keyless entry again!

I've learned to ask the dealer parts person if that's the lowest he can go. Usually gets me a better deal.
