i hate having to post this but i want to be able to save some of you peeps from getting ripped off like me. don't ever deal with these people:

Midwest Auto Parts

275 Rampart Lane
Waterloo, IA 50707

i ordered a front hub for the bug from these guys at the beginning of the month as a stopgap until i could get the cash to have a new front bearing pressed in our original hub. anyways i looked it up on car part dot com and found these guys had a bunch of listings for them at 25 bux a pop. so i called them up and verified this.

okay i then ordered it off their website and paid immediately with paypal. a couple of days later got an email from somebody saying there was a problem with my payment. replied asking what was the problem, never got an answer. waited a week nothing, no call, nothing. i finally decided to give them a call, okay the guy i talked to on the phone said they had just barely got their e-commerce site up and running and were still working out the bugs, so he took down my info, and what i had ordered and he said he would have it out immediately.

a week and a half later finally got it in. looked at it in the box, but i never had ours off so i didn't know what i was looking at, took ours off after a couple of days and realized not only was it the wrong hub, but it was cracked from the hub area all the way out to the abs sensor tab that was very visible, i was like WTF? emailed them several times and sent pics of the part side by side with ours so they could see the difference, no reply, called them, said they would call me back, they never did. finally got fed up with them filed a claim with paypal, that got their attention.

they asked me where i sent the emails to since "it was the first time i heard about this." sent them the address i sent the emails too which just so happened to be the one paypal sent the payment to. they said "OMG not only was the part the wrong one it was damaged which is unacceptable. i'll see what i can do.", that was the last i heard from them lol 5 days ago. gotta love it. paypal also resolved my claim within 5 minutes. saying that as explained in my user agreement they only cover the transaction if the item was not sent after getting paid for. which means litterly that if i paid for a hub and they sent me a brick it was ok. as long as it was shipped they could do nothing about it. so midwest auto sent me a 36 dollar doorstop and got away with it scott free.

i'll post the pics that way you guys can see for yourselves.

theirs on the left ours on the right. ^^^

ours top, theirs bottom ^^^

theirs left ours right ^^^

ours left, theirs right.^^^

and here are some pics of the damage with the grease pencil marks clearly visible on the part they sent me in some:

For what it's worth, a brand new bearing is around $40 and i paid $15 to have it pressed.
