Default ECS tuning.com feedback

To Jon: I hope you read this and really hope that maybe you can help out.....

As many of you know I have struggled with a coolant leak for about 8 months now. i replaced everything and when i say everything i mean EVERYTHING!!!! i bought most of my parts from ECS tuning.com except for a few things that they didn't have. Spent about 1500.00 in tools work parts etc. but ECS made most that money.

Since everything has been fantastic! Runs great, more pep in her step, list goes on. Then it happened, 2 days ago she starts leaking coolant again from the lower timing belt cover. we all know what that means, bad o-ring on the water pump. Luckily i had an extra just laying around so i go to replace the water pump o-ring. Get it all apart the o-ring isn't bad. The seal that goes around the shaft of the impeller and the sprocket has been sucked into the impeller. this is a faulty water pump due to manufacturers error which is beyond everyone's control
ECS wants me to pay for shipping the old pump back, and to ship out a new one!!! Just pay for shipping which will be like 20 to 25 dollars total just for the shipping! Do you know how many miles i can drive a that price? do they realize how many auto parts stores are within walking distance to me? the kits was a fantastic deal given the price and no shipping charges! i am thinking of just taking the refund and buying a new water pump from a local parts store that i know for a fact is cheaper than ECS and carries all the same parts and more.

The sad part is this will leave a foul taste in my mouth to the point that i want everyone to beware when buying parts online, you will pay to ship back and ship new parts out to you. i should say with ECStuning.com you will do all that. i have bought plenty of things online and also returned them exchanges so on...haven't had to pay for the shipping on all that. So makes you ponder how much does EVStuning.com make on the shipping? i know this point has been brought up before by someone else on this site and was taken care of promptly. guess i will also need to post on the vortex as well. thank you everyone for you help, guidance, and advice on all my work. thank you for reading this and bearing with my little rant.

just so it is known, my next step if not resolved would be to contact the BBB.

I agree a 100%... If the part is defective ECS should pay all shipping costs....

the more i read and the more i think about it the madder i get i should not have to pay a dime for a faulty part that ECS sold to me. that's what a warranty's for. its not my fault they chose to do their parts store online. that is a risk of doind business online. i know for a fact it would not cost more than 4 dollars to ship that water pump. heck postal svc would be cheaper than that. i can say one thing for sure, willnot buy one more thing from ECS tuning. i recommend that if you are reading this you not buy from them either....

i would like to retract my last post on this thread. i have soken to someone at ECS, we are getting the issue resolved. they made a compromise and are sticking to their guns and i wanna get this replaced with the least amount of money coming from my pocket. they will pay the shipping on the new pump but i do have to pay to ship it back. i accepted the offer that they made to me. it doesn't change how i feel about eating all shipping but i am a man of reason and this is okay with me for now. i do recommend before you buy from ANY online site you at least call and find out how the process returns for defective items sold to you. had i known that this was the policy through ECS i would have bought from a local parts store that specializes in german cars only. not to mention they are a heck of a lot cheaper on parts too! for example i could buy a fuel injector from the store at a price of 42.00!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's a steal compared to other stores and web sites. not even Frank at Frank's VW TDI LLC could get fuel injectors that cheap. he was close though at 48.00 per injector. point being, do some simple research before buying...

Well better than nothing.. I guess... As they say though... Once you learn a lesson the hard way... You don't forget... Cheer's for sticking to your guns...
