The following exchange has occurred between me and MJ Autohaus the past couple of days (see below)...Is it me, or is MJ a little on the snippy side, considering that I am a paying customer just wondering whether his order has been received properly, and when to expect delivery. I ordered via eBay on a Saturday and received no e-mail confirmation, no tracking info, etc. that normal sellers receive.
After dropping $134 to someone you don't know, it just makes you feel more secure to hear or receive something. The e-mails: (Note: This e-mail was sent after I looked up their number and called them, because I was told that it was a particular salesman that generated the eBay ad). 1)Dear mjmautohaus, Do you have any info, tracking, etc. on my order? I ordered 4 days ago and have not received so much as an e-mail confirmation or response of any kind. Thank you, Kenny Carter - miffmole ================== 2)Dear miffmole, Your item shipped yesterday with USPS and is on its way to you (this was communicated to you when you called yesterday). Please have a tad bit of patience when buying via mail-order; your item will be there shortly. - mjmautohaus ====== 3)Dear mjmautohaus, It isn't a matter of patience... In marketplaces these days like eBay, when you send off $134 or so it makes one feel a bit uneasy to receive no response at all for 3 business days. Most sellers, myself included, will respond to a sale with a follow-up e-mail, thanking the seller for the purchase, then later send them tracking info and request positive feedback when the said item arrives. I would never leave the buyer in the dark for 3-5 days, and then chide him for his impatience. A little business sense goes a long way. Sincerely, Kenny Carter - miffmole =============== 4)Dear miffmole, Kenny, you should have been told by phone (when you called) that your valve was on the way to you - was it not? Was this not the *confirmation* that you were looking for?!?!? Your call was answered on the second ring when you called and both your messages have been responded to in a timely manner? - mjmautohaus ======= 5)Dear mjmautohaus, I really don't understand what is so hard about sending a friendly response with tracking info. Everyone else on eBay has routinely done this. I should never have needed to call you in the first place, or to respond to your offensive e-mails. I've yet to see the tracking info I was told was sent to me. Apparently the customer is always wrong in your opinion...or ex-customer in my case. - miffmole ====================== 6)Dear miffmole, USPS does not offer tracking on First Class shipments, I'm sorry. That is not something we can control. I'm very confused as to what the problem is. We have great feedback, we're one of Forge's largest distributors in the US, and we've been in business for over half a decade. Like any other mail-order business, you'll have your item AT YOUR DOOR within 4-6 business days from the day you receive it. I'm still very confused as to what the problem is. - mjmautohaus

Well, here's my opinion on this =)
1. First, if *any* item is to be shipped USPS, you will not get a tracking number. It's going via postal mail, so it can't be tracked. First class is fast, but still, not trackable. There *IS* usually some kind of code / number associated with your item, but it doesn't allow you to track it, it only allows the post office to open up an official "tracer" if the product never arrives, and they can *sometimes* find where it went. The best recourse for this, contact the seller and have the item shipped a DIFFERENT WAY. USPS is just a bad way to get something if you want to be able to track it. 2. Second, without being able to find MJM Autohaus's eBay store, all I can say is, read *everything* about the seller / shipping info / etc when you buy on eBay. Some businesses do such high volume sales, that they will sometimes list in their shipping information that the item will ship "within 2-3 business days". About the only kind of confirmation you get from some companies like that is when you purchase the item, you pay with Paypal or whatever, you usually get an automated message saying "Thanks for your payment." That's about it with some. The next thing you know the package is at your door. Got a link to their eBay store so I can look around? Also, eBay itself usually states that you must wait at least 7 days before opening a ticket into why you haven't heard from a seller, because sometimes it takes that long to get an item shipped (depending on how busy the seller is , etc). So the eBay sellers *have* leeway. The fact that some of them get your item shipped out the next day after purchase is simply a bonus, not a guarantee. Standard practice of mail-order is to have an item packed and shipped within a week, but it's not *always* going to happen ![]()

Here's their store link:
Actually, their listings say that deliveries are by UPS Ground, so that's the reason I requested a tracking number. On the phone I was told that I had been e-mailed a tracking number...When I opened my e-mail minutes later, it said there wasn't one. ![]() The whole thing is not that big a deal, really...I just feel that they need to use a little more business sense, and not treat my correspondence like it's some kind of a contest/debate or something. |

Hi,
I some time ago ordered my timing belt kit from them for the New Ringo bug. I placed the order online, then decided the next day I wanted to add some G12 coolant to the order. I called to see if the package had left the facility yet? Because i wanted to add the additional items. They were snippy with me as well. I didnt appriciate this as I was making my order larger and giving them more money. They acted as if I was bothering them? The kit came in the mail well packed, the quality was there. I didnt notice the water pump had a plastic impeller rather then a metal one. That is my only complaint other than the smart remarks on the phone with them. If you are looking for great customer service from them, you will NOT get it in my experience. Sounds like they treat all their customers this way based on your experience. Just my two cents. Marc

For one thing i do not order over the internet as i don't trust them...I have a personal friend that has a Canadian web site which sells all OEM parts @ a 1\3rd of the dealers price and about 99 per cent of aftermarket vendors... I send him a list of what i need and go pick-up and do the install right then and there.... My customer service is excellent and i don't have to listen to some employee getting pissy with me about my order... My advise is to find yourself someone who is local and really appriciates and respects your business... Just my opinion though..GL...KP...

Follow up:
Well, my diverter arrive on Friday the 13th, LOL...sort of. That morning I received an e-mail telling me that there was a tracking number after all. It turned out that UPS was the carrier. Upon opening the e-mail, I went to the UPS site and saw that the package was undeliverable due to being sent to a non-existent address (MJM's fault, as my PayPal address was correct, of course). So, to avoid having it returned to San Antonio, TX I went out driving around and found a UPS man, albeit the wrong one. He called the right one and we arranged for a pickup at the UPS terminal, since he had already left town. So, after a 35 mile drive (one way) to the UPS distribution center, I had my package. In spite of the inconvenience, it's like I said before...mistakes happen, but I can do without their attitude. There are far two many other places to spend my money. I'm one-and-done with MJM Autohaus. |
