I don't know what I did wrong, but the post looks strange.
I enlarged the letters, I'm sorry, I had to try to fix it. Anyway, I'm so pumped! I never watch Oprah, never liked her much, but Carolyn, my spousal unit always does. She was a excited as me when Oprah rolled on stage in that beautiful Red 2010 NB with ERNIES WHEELS! (thanks to Jonk) The crowd went wild!! She showed the plane flying the 2012 in, and it showed a NB that we have now, and said it was the second time in history that VW was retooling the beloved Beetle. |

Oprah just gave her audience keys to 275 2012 New Beetles that are still being built!! She even unveiled the profile shot (blacked out) of it too!
Read more here! ANd here it is on Video at the Oprah Show.

The Oprah Show did not show the New Beetle but did show the Shape behind a screen......I knew there was some reason I was too lazy to change the channel
She did say the VW would not let her show the car because it will debut in May 2011....So we have 6 Months to wait.... |

Well, judging the sillohette(sp), it is definately going to ge different. To me, it looks like someone took Ernie, and pushed right on top, and he squatted a bit. From the shape I saw, it looks like it is shaped more like the later Super Beetle. Looks like the nose is longer and the trunk almost goes straight down. In fact, Carolyn said, look they took the trunk! So, i'm like you bro, just to know there is going to still be a NEW BEETLE out there, is super!

Oprah gives audience free 2012 Volkswagen Beetles - Drive On: A conversation about the cars and trucks we drive - USATODAY.com
The studio audience has yet to actually see their new cars. Oprah, who drove her own red current New Beetle onto the stage, showed them a tease of the 2012 car's silhouette behind a screen in a giant Christmas box. You Drive On readers, of course, saw spy photos a few weeks ago of the real deal, but we posted it again, above. VW donated 275 of the 2012 Beetles for the giveaway -- and threw in the applicable taxes and fees. The coming Beetle -- due on sale in the fall -- brings up to date the now long-in-the-tooth New Beetle, which has been little changed since its introduction in 1998. In addition to a still-retro but sportier look, the 2012 redesign will offer such now-expected amenities as Bluetooth, touch-screen radio, branded audio systems, navigation and ambient lighting. While it also will offer dual exhaust, 19-inch wheels and sport seats, which might be aimed at drawing more male buyers, we suspect the stunt with Oprah indicates VW is not fighting the Beetle's core demographic.

Interesting info, according to Edmunds Daily:
Volkswagen officials wouldn't give much extra info today, but did say this about the 2012 Beetle: - It will be officially unveiled next spring - U.S. models will "offer" the popular, performance-oriented 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder as well as the TDI direct-injection turbodiesel, although execs were cagey about whether the TDI would be available from the start. There also will be a TDI convertible. - The 2012 Beetle will butch it up with components such as a dual exhaust, 19-inch wheels and a sport seats, plus the now-expected arsenal of tech features such as Bluetooth hands-free connectivity. - The car will be built in VW's Puebla, Mexico, assembly plant and sold globally under a "highly coordinated" launch that sees the U.S. get the car, for once, presumably at the same time as Europe and other major markets. |

You know Oprah got PAID for giving those away. If Oprah gives a thumbs up to something you know how many will sell? I do.
Oprah is the anticrist. The catch phase should have been "everybody gets a deck spoiler". I have yet to see one without it. If they sell enough of them I see a Porsche model being made, like they did with the 914. Next it will be "everybody get's a Porsche". Last edited by NewBeetleMechanic; 11-23-2010 at 02:54 AM.. |

I posted this on the VW FB page:
Being that our Beetles are one of Oprah's favorite things, maybe she should do a new beetle GtG/show, where all of us current new beetle owners make a pilgrimage to a taping of her show. I'd be game for the trip! And I wasn't kidding about that. I'm all about giving not only our nB's but the strength of our comminity more exposure to the masses.

With OBD3 soon to be released, I think the New Beetle will become the "middle" Beetle. Mostly I think all of your cars will become a niche market like the old Beetles.
Hey somebody can pitch the idea of this show to her. Beetles bringing people together. Honda had a campain like that in the 60's and 70's with their slogan "you meet the nicest people on a honda" I bought one. |
