Here's a pic of the headlight bucket release. 1/4 turn of the screw and you slide the bucket out. Way less complicated than the previous version.

Also, I'm wondering if there will be two headlight options: standard halogen reflectors (which this car had) and the bi-xenons with the LED running lights that we have seen the pictures of.

New Beetle Cabriolet, caught on camera:

German magazine AutoBild:
"
VW Beetle Cabrio 2012: Foto

HERE IT IS IN ENGLISH.....

VW Beetle Convertible 2012 Photo

Open Beetle takes longer

With much pomp and glamor VW presented in April 2011 the new Beetle. Even the convertible loves obviously exciting. It matters little later than planned. A photo is already there anyway.

Volkswagen will offer the Beetle back as a convertible. However, the open version can be longer in coming than originally thought. While the sedan, which was in April at the Auto Shanghai 2011 officially presented, is already on the market this summer, the convertible is only the end of 2012 to the start. First photos show: Compared to its predecessor, the soft top folds flat into the rear well. The engines with up to 200 hp are from the Beetle. The prices are not fixed yet.

Alright...now we're talkin'!
As an "Open Beetle" owner, this is what I'll eventually wind up with.

Is it me or does it look like kind of a stadium seating setup (slightly higher in the back seat than the front)?
Are the current versions back seats like that?

Just thought that was interesting. When the translated version said that the top retracts flush, I was hoping to see that it had a hard cover over the retracted top, but I guess it doesn't all go into the trunk area.

It does sort of look that way, doesn't it? The back seat looks higher, though I've never seen nor heard of that before. I'm wondering how much credence we should give to this picture, though. I can't tell if it's a real car, or just a rendering/Photoshop image.

I'm like you, though. I was hoping for a hardtop convertible a la the Eos, too.

Ooooo! A hard top! That would be sweet! I was just thinking of the boot over the convertible similar to the porsche hard boots. But if they made a hard top convertible, my wife might actually allow me to get one (paranoid about someone slashing our top if soft top)

Top opens and closes like the GOLF, and not like the current beetle in a z-way

With that in mind Stephen, I assume that VW knows not to mess with a good thing.

Cautiously safe to say that we could see some CC beetles in the future

So far, every picture and/or configuration I've seen of the 2012 Beetle has that spoiler on the back. Will that be standard or will you be able to get the car without it? I personally think it would look much better without it.
