Very nice looking! I saw my first 2012 Beetle commercial last night while watching Auction Kings. It featured a Black Turbo and everyone was giving the driver high fives as he was next to them.

Yeah saw that commercial too. Not feelin' the manly vibe VW is trying to go for though.
Hi-5ing kids, bicyclist in tights, and other drivers don't strike me as manly!

Fun and attention getting yes! Manly? No.

I'm not ashamed either. The only reason why I am shopping the B2 is because I lost my old car in a car accident. :P

I'm just saying VW's Press releases and journalist are projecting a different image than what their Marketing department is saying in their commercials. That is all.

Besides, the real selling point for these B2's to me is the interior and the closer representation of the Old Beetle. Plus I'm a tech nut, so all the new cell phone iPod features I like. My old car only had a cassette deck and I had wires galore just to hook my stuff up :P

I'm to young to have a Old Beetle, nor have the time or patience to maintain one. But I've always been a fan of Herbie. Which leads me to liking these cars. I just don't feel the need to repaint a car to have the stripes and the ole' 53 slapped on these new beetles

I remember around 2002-03; when I got my new Turbo S, that prices for those at some other nearby local dealerships were quite a bit higher... when I looked at the sticker they had tacked on something called "market availability fee"! I'm sure once the hoopla of the "new" beetle dies down; things will be reasonable... I guess dealers can sell the cars for when they want; it all comes down to what the market will bear. I guess if someone is willing to pay "full sticker" for something and they get it; they aren't going to complain.... I would wonder what the spec list was on that beetle, however. I'm wondering... seeing how the economy the way it is; if the dealers will be able to get customers this way... on the other hand, there is the old saying: "its not the deal you go but the deal you THINK you got!"

Either that or they really didn't intend to sell it. Otherwise they wouldn't have anything to show new interested customers. Not having any car to sell is almost worst than having 1 left but it's overpriced, but at least you can look at it to make up your mind about getting one!

Ahhh, good ol' dealer markup. Actual sticker for a "Launch Edition" should be around $25K. Prices will come back down in a few months.

Maybe I hit the one @VW blogger than didn't know anything.

If you search for "Beetle R United States" you get tons of articles like this one...

Frankfurt Motor Show: Volkswagen Beetle R concept - NYTimes.com

Which states that they are planning on a US version of the Beetle R.
