I'm selling my beetle.
I am moving into Philly for grad school and will not need a car- also I'm an artist so I need to upgrade to a truck to haul all of my materials, we're talking lumber and doors folks...

I love this car it was originally my Mom's and I have been driving it this past year. It was the family's second car- hence the low miles and was garaged up until this past year. One owner, no smoking, automatic, Leather, heated seats, sunroof, am/fm, 6cd, power windows.
This really is a great car, limited edition, and the turbo is so fun and speedy! And the color is great, unique and surprisingly does not show dirt!!

I have an ad on autotrader with photos etc- my zip is 19806- helpful for searching for the car.

Well I had a guy stop by and check out my bug for his duaghter and he thinks I repainted it because of the tie down hook/ pull on the back is the same color as the bug?!!!

WTF? Aren't all bugs like this?! so Why would he think that? The guy is calling me a liar. And yah know what, I took a closer look at it again today and its grease! There is just grease that is covering up some of the paint and he thinks that that means the whole car has been painted over!? Sorry, I just need to vent. I mean I have the Vin number, it was listed on autotrader where he found it, the history is crystal clear I mean it was a fun weekend car for my family that I inherited....

Its just such a lame reason not to buy a car! This is a great deal and it was just grease, bend down rub your finger on it and there yah go, its grease.

Sigh, I'm better now.

but answer me this- aren't all tie down hooks painted to match? Or is that only on limited editions?

periwinkle...the "prospective buyer" you talked to wouldn't know the difference between you-know-what and shinola...or he's just trying to set the stage to come back and low-ball you on your asking price. and i agree with Gina---don't sell it to him.

hook is painted body color. just for grins, i walked to the parking lot and checked out my bug...pulled off my towhook cover....TECHNO BLUE! the two other bugs in the parking lot---same story. hmmm. what a surprise.

hang in there...the right buyer will come along.

its just that sometimes you can start to feel a little crazy when people ask you such stupid questions. Just like with you Warren, it made me do a double take too!! I didn't think to wipe it clean until after I got his email late last night. I know that this car has never been painted so I didn't think I had to over explain why the tie back looked the way it did...
Yeah good riddens.

On the plus side I have already had 3 new emails just today asking about my bug, so I am not worried. This sweetie will find its right new owner who might actually know a thing or two.

Hey All,
just wanted to share the good news! I sold my Beetle a couple of weeks ago to a great girl in PA. It was a perfect match.
It was sad to part with the bug, some great times, and so fun.... sigh... but its on to a second life with someone who will drive it regularly and have more great times zipping along with the top down.
