It has to do with Emmisions. That is all I know.
I replaced the engine in my wife's car and the replacement came with one already attached so I did not need the old one... Parting the whole engine. See my other threads. |

it pulls fresh air from the air box and pumps it into the exhaust track on cold starts for emissions related purposes.
The original poster is parting out an engine so it is a spare. |
