VWVortex is where you want to go for serious technical questions. On the other hand, if you want to read a 20-page thread on what colour of jellybeans are people's favourite, the Org has you covered.

e-high five

To the OP: yes, vortex is VERY active. I think when you sign up, they send you an email with a jumbled up password. Once you enter that, you can change it to something that makes sense and start posting.

SMG's favorite color is green

The main reason that Vortex is much more popular is because it deals with ALL models of VW and some Audi and Lamborghini.

VW Vortex is a very very different forum. I tend to stay away anymore, only venturing there to get answers for technical questions really. Oh and to read the Car Lounge because people there seem to have some sense (Its linked from various other forums). Once you get into car-specific stuff on there, it can get pretty tasteless. I feel like if you don't have your car modded, you are a piece of crap and don't deserve to have the car. That's the vibe I've gotten from the car specific forums.

I can't get past the "set up an account" screen. Never got a password to move forward. I'm trying to get a message to a moderator, but need an account to do that.

It could be that its sending you a link to click to activate your account, but that email is getting sent to your spam folders...

Already verified that the spam account, both on my email program and online at my ISP doesn't have any messages.

Thanks for the suggestion, but already ruled out.

Default Success Finally

After I replied, I went and used a yahoo based email account. WORKED LIKE A CHARM. My ISP must be blocking VWVortex before they ever get anywhere near any accounts. I even have an unfilted one that is being blocked.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

Dan

Wow. I never heard of vortex being blocked like that. I had no problem signing up but I do have yahoomail. My bf has his email set up through his own website and signed up no problem as well. Weird.

Glad you got through though. There is a lot of good information on there. Enjoy the 'tex!

Most NB.org people are too soft for Vortex. The people there are car enthusiasts, while 99% of NB.org are New Beetle enthusiasts. BIG difference. Vortex is the place where if you look and run some searches you will find real answers and discussions on technical topics.

Personally, VWVortex is my favorite forum. NB.org is a fun deviation, but I don't log on here for answers to real tech questions and I don't care about jellybean color or cutesy names for my car, or your car. I do log on here to try and add whatever knowledge I have for the few tech questions that do come up.

You sure you want that. I'm from Brooklyn. I tell it like it is. I would probably be banned if I let all my opinions out In fact, I know someone who was banned from this fourm for doing exactly that.

But in all seriousness, Vortex is a great tech forum, but NB.org is a better community for those who are into the NB "culture". I guess that's why I clash a little bit with this forum. I'm a car guy, first and foremost. I just happen to drive a New Beetle.

Maybe it's not a question of Orgers being too soft for Vortex. Maybe I'm too hard for the Org.
