Thumbs up Absolute Windshield Repair

Where: Bakersfield, CA
Who: Absolute Windshield Repair
What: Windshield for a '99 NB
How much: $385+tax

Two days ago, a rock bounced up and cracked my windshield. By the next day, the cracks had gone halfway across the windshield. I called around to try to find a place that would replace it on a Sunday (ha ha), and found Absolute Windshield in Bakersfield, CA. Though I normally live in LA, my parents live up in Bakersfield, so I took it there to get fixed.

They weren't able to replace it on Sunday, but came out to my parents house for free and replaced it there this morning. The guy was really nice, and they took credit card. He pointed out an emblem on the new windshield and then pointed to the same emblem on my side windows stating that it's the same company making the windshield as the other glass.

I browsed around, and this seems to be a fairly reasonable price for a windshield in my area. They had free mobile service, and have a lifetime guarantee on their work. Overall, I would definitely recommend these guys.

Default Covered by insurance?

When I lived in AZ I had to have my windshield replaced twice due to rocks. Each time I only paid a small deductible and my insurance covered the rest. I was under the impression that was pretty standard coverage. Might want to check with your insurance company.

Silverpodgirl, was your windshield actually cracked or just pitted?

Default It was cracked

My windshield was cracked and replaced twice (and patched a coupe of times) So both times I had it replaced I paid $120 and Farmers paid the rest I was told that is pretty standard if it needs to be replaced.

Default One more thing

I do remember asking the windshield guy how much the windshield was and I beleive he told me $700, but I am sure that is jacked up for the insurance claim. I have had dings that get repaired free and I beleive that is pretty standard too. Besides rocks getting my windshield numerous times in AZ, they also broke both of my fog lights There are rocks everywhere there!

Well I had originally planned to use my insurance to cover it, but when they told me it would be a $500 deductible, I changed my mind. It was cheaper just to pay for the whole thing myself! Sucks about your multiple windshields. At least your insurance covered most of it.
