We have one in Terbie and Pistachio. The sound quality is top rate compared to the tape deck adaptor method we used to use. The ipod is controlled from the beetle head unit, which is awesome too.

I've been debating getting oen for Elwood, the only drawback is that I have to unplug my cd changer. I'd remove it, but then I'd have to get a new trunk carpet piece and a liner without the changer spot cut out. Lessen I leave it there for looks and act like it's a 1000 Cd Changer.

Here's another question, does the VW logo come up on the iPod on not?

Cheers, paul

Hi kcfoxie, you say it works in older New Beetles...! Mine's a 1999 model with a factory fitted audio unit (EUROVOX 5680VW radio/cd player) and I cannot seem to get a straight answer from VW as to whether the iPod adaptor (1K0 051 444) is compatable or not. Any idea where I can go for a definite answer on this...? Cheers

Ummm, our head units are different from the Seppo versions - I got a definite yes from one dealer, another said no and Volkswagen Australia said that I should take my car into a dealer so they could check whether it would be compatible (I sent them an email back complaining that the was inadequate but received no response).

So if you find out for certain please let me know.

And as far as I know all Beetles are MkIV.

Yes, the VW Logo comes up on the iPod's screen, along with the current song title & artist.

Ok, ok, so in order to sellect a play list do you do it through the stereo, or through the iPod? I'm still confused how it works.
