Default Gas Mileage??

Hi all. As most of you know, I just purchased Opie, my 06 Harvest Moon, 2.5 package 1. The day after I bought him, I took a short road trip, (400 miles). I was thrilled to find that I got 32.7 mpg!!!! To my dismay, That was the last time I got the good mileage I took another trip last weekend, about 500 miles. The gas mileage for this trip was 26.5. I don't know what I am doing wrong? I used regular gas and air conditioning on both trips. Any input would help. I always thought the gas mileage would get better after the first few miles. I am satisfied with the 26.5 MPG, I just don't get it....

Did you use cruise both times? Did you buy the gas from the same place? Daisy's mileage tends to go up and down a lot too in similar conditions.

Long trips will give you more, thats why on your first trip you got a good MPG. Im guessing that the next trip had a lot of stop and go or maybe some elevation in which the car needs to work harded and use up more gas. Either way i know it, city MPG is killer on this car.

I did let my son drive the car, he got down on the Sporty and tried out the titronic a bit. I haven't used my cruise yet at all, (waiting for the first 2500 miles). The first time when I got good mileage, was when the dealership put in the gas. I may call to see what octane and where they got the gas. Thanks guys!!!!!!!

Where can I get an NB with a "titronic" transmission? That would really be a juggbugg!

OBTW, Antoine, Aaron, and fellow TDIers...
DW says that the low light finally came on with the odometer right at 700 MILES this morning - trying to squeak into the TDI 800 Mile Club...
