My sad day: RIP kitty Natasha

I realize that Misc-hoo-haa is for fun but I need to express my day's goings.
Last Friday I took my kitty Natasha to the vet for some bloodwork to see why one of her toes was not healing - fortunately for us, the owner of the practice was there who is a Wonderful, Caring woman who took a look at her before I left and told me she wanted to do x-rays.
Well, it was bad news, Natasha had cancer - starting in her lung and mainfesting itself out to the toes. I took her home and we spent the weekend snuggling and saying goodbye. (and I took lots of pics)
She went on her last big ride to the cosmos 2 hours ago, I am a wreck and just finished offloading all the pics from the weekend.

Here's one from a year ago - my little mama torti kit - she was just 6 years old.

Awwwww.....I'm so sorry Years ago I had to put my kitty KiKi down because he had cancer and the pain was unbearable for him. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but it was the right thing to do for him.

Pets really are a part of the family, and it's so hard to lose one. I am so sorry you had to put your kitty down. I understand how that feels...

Same thing happened a couple months to our oldest...she had developed some sort of Tumor on her hind leg....lost tons of weight and finally after weeks of not being as social as she always was we had her diagnosed. I think she was down to 6 or 9 lbs...she was 13 or 14 though.

6 is young!

I shed quite a few tears especially when we buried her.

I am so sorry for your familys loss. Gosh, I havent had a pet pass away in a few years now, and its still hard for me and my family to discuss the ones that have gone.

I am glad your dear baby is not in pain. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts, and make sure to hug my dear cat and two pups nice and tightly tonight.

i am so sorry to hear this beth! it's so hard losing a pet. i've been there many times before and it never gets easier. i am glad you got to spend some time with your kitty before she passed on. i know how hard this period is....but think of all the wonderful memories. you will never lose though.

i always post this poem when a pet passes on...it always makes me feel a little better. i hope it has the same effect for you.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thank you everyone, I feel all those great hugs - Natasha sure was a great kitty - during the year I was out of work, she always sat next to my chair when I was online for school or just generally online. I dubbed her my *babysitter* - her way of making sure I stayed OK during that time.
Her name has now been added to the list of names I ritually say *goodnight* to (all those that are in the great cosmos out there) every night when Windoze is shutting down.
The other kitty family members have, I think, begun to realize she is not just visiting at the vet.
I do believe all that in the poem, Erin, we'll all be reunited and now her toes don't hurt anymore and breathing is not labored - one kitty that left many years ago had no teeth when I adopted him - I bet he has a full set now

Thanks again everyone, there are a lot of people that don't understand how we feel about our pets but I knew that so many folks here do and I could tell you about my loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's like losing a big part of your heart when a beloved pet passes away. It does get better with time but it never goes away. I firmly believe that God has a place in heaven where our pets wait for us, happy where they are but waiting just the same. Big hugs to you and your family. It was nice that you got to say goodbye.

i know, i do too. i can't read it without getting teary-eyed. but that poem always helped me. even though i am not a spiritual person, it helps to read it.

Part of being an on-line community is supporting each other in times of need. I think that ranks right up there with fun in important use of Misc Hoo-Ha.

Pets are family, and their loss is real. Our kitty Sylvester went to the great litter box in the sky Oct 29 2004 from kidney failure that progressed rapidly.

Perhaps, when the time is right, Natasha's spirit will send another kitty into your life.
