Unhappy So Sad

I crashed Pepe today. I pulled out in front of someone that I didnt see and got t boned on the drivers side. It was totally my fault. The damage is pretty bad so I think the insurance company is going to total him. Im so heartbroken right now

Im ok so far except my ribs hurt real bad from the seat belt. Pepe was going on the dyno tomorrow too which I was looking forward to for such a long time. The axle in the back is broken along with the wheel. The door and b-pillar are smashed in. The bud vase came flying out I got hit so hard. If I had been driving my honda I would be in the hospital right now, Pepe kept me safe and Im gonna miss him so much.

Did the side airbag deploy?

You poor thing.... I felt so sick when my jetta was totalled, because I was just waiting to hear back from them to know for sure... but deep down inside I knew it was totalled.

it broke my heart to see my "baby" all hurt and in pain.

Take it easy, I will keep you in my thoughts.

Damn that sucks, but you know it amazes me how well the pods protects the drivers and passengers in T-Bone accidents as to where with other vehicles most people are usually hospitalized or worse... Glad to hear you're ok.

Dude, I am so sorry for the loss of Pepe. Thank God you're alright- I know it's major bummage for losing Pepe, but you'll live to play another day, and that my friend is good news. So what's next for you car wise, or have you even thought that far yet?

Here's to better days

Thanks for all the love guys, I need it right now. If they do end up totaling him Im definatly getting another black beetle TDI. That way I can swap all the stuff that I put in Pepe and keep parts of him alive in a new car. I might swap his engine into Benny or an old Rabbit GTI or Scirocco. Hopefully I will be able to get him fixed, looking at autotrader last night hes still worth about 10k and the damage doesnt look like it will cost that much. How much does it have to cost to total a car, like 50% of the value or something?

I'm glad you're OK. Too bad about Pepe If I were you I'd get all the stuff you want to trade before they total him. I don't think you can take them out afterwards. I may be wrong so talk to your agent. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they repair him.

Once the damages approach 70% of the value, then a total loss will be considered. Autotrader is not a source to use to value cars. Insurance carriers use an appraisal system based upon actual sales prices of your car within a 100 mile radius or so of where you live. A 99 Beetle, even though its a TDI, will likely have a value with 4 digits in it. Ask you claims adjuster how much it will cost to retain the salvage, as you will need to do that to tear off parts. Once the insurance carrier pays you off, they own that car. Communicate with the adjuster to see what can be worked out though. Glad to see you have no major injuries. You said nothing about the side airbag deploying....did it?

That really sucks, but it might not be bad if they just total it. As much as you don't want to hear it even if it's fixed it will never be / drive the same.
