I think what pushed Birmingham up the list was all the cop shootings in then last year. We have had them run over while riding bikes and while on foot. But most of the shootings are gang related.

They seem to want to exterminate the good guys and eachother.

Well, coming in at #21 on the safe list is Chino Hills, CA: My place of employment... Yea, right!!

Friday night, Leo, my coworker, and I were cloding up as usual. I work in a skate shop so there is not too much traffic during the day and we hardly ever have a lot of cash. Right next door is a T-Moble store. We're all friends with each other and talk to each other often. That night, a young girl was closing alone. For some reason there is always only one person who closes there.

9PM rolls around and Leo and I get our things to leave. He walks out the door first as I shut the gates. I hear a man yelling at him, "What are you doing? Move! Get behind me!!" I walk out the door to lock it and Leo grabbed my shoulder and said, "We need to move right now." There stands a cop with his gun pointed towards us. I frantically lock the door and we both run behind the cop. We asked him what was going on and he said he couldn't explain and to wait around. He asked us if we saw or heard anything, which neither of us had.

We stood in the parking lot for about 15 minutes trying to find out anything. The girl closing at T-Mobile came out and was being interviewed by the cop. 2 more girls, presummably her friends, came out crying. Then 2 more cops went inside their store, guns drawn. They came out empty handed. Leo and I eventually left with no information.

I called my work yesterday to see if they had found anything out. Apparently, the T-Mobile girl was held up at gun point. They cleaned out the whole store: every phone, the safe, the register, the activation laptop, even the girl's purse.

It is so frightening to know that this was all going on right next door to me while I was counting out our money. They could have so easily come over and done the same thing at my store. Gives me the creeps. Especially looking over at that cop with his gun pointed at my face!!

The girl was not hurt and I don't know if they caught the guys or not.

So just because you live in a "safe" town... doesn't mean there isn't crime!

Niki, that is so scary! I'm glad nothing happened to you guys, but that poor T-Mobile girl...

You're absolutely right though! That's why I really don't like lists like this. It tends to give some people a false sense of security. Crime happens everywhere. Noone is immune.
