Default What's your daily commute like?

For me it's 27 miles and 35 minutes of driving each way. Friday afternoons are the worst in the summer. I work rotating schedules, so I get the enjoyment of empty roads on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Overall I like my commute. (The NB really helped this)

Mostly I listen to WHEB 100.3 here in seacoast NH, "The Morning Buzz." It tends to be better than any amount of coffee for waking up. The best is "Bra Size Bingo" and "What's Your Point." They used to have Larry the Cable Guy on each week, but that was before he became really popular.

Tell us a little about your commute.

My commute is about 13 miles, and takes about 15-20 minutes to get to work. There's 2 ways to go, one being a major road, the other being the scenic route, but it involves driving through a park with 25MPH heavily enforced speedlimits, so I usually avoid that route. The other way let's Elwood defend his title as the winner of the semi daily McKnight 500.

Mine is 42 miles one way with a 3000ft elevation change, about 45-50 minutes. Mornings are fine but going home sucks.

I either listen to my iPod or XM as local radio is horrid and only available for about half the ride.

Mine commute changes daily! Three days a week I go to school (T, TH, and F). It's about 22 miles to school. On Tuesday and Thursday, the commute to and from is about 45 minutes. On Friday, the commute in the morning is about half an hour, but the commute home is more like one hour. I work from home, but will go in one a week for a team meeting. It's about 12 miles to the office and takes me 15 minutes to get there.

6 miles one way for me. 10 minutes if I make every light or 20 minutes if I don't and the traffic is heavy.

It's about 11 miles to work- takes me 11 minutes exactly. One day last week a 18-wheeler was overturned in the highway- that added about an extra 45 seconds

That's one of the benefits of rural life. Absolutely no traffic, unless you count the deer/hogs/coyotes/turkeys in the road...

10.3 miles each way. Usually takes me about 20 minutes to get there and 17-18 to get home. Unless there is a lot of traffic or I go a route that is speedier but has more traffic lights.(Ha.. figure that one out) I seem to have the worst luck in getting a green light.

For my listening pleasure I mostly listen to stuff that is on one of my digital audio players (non-iPod) I've recorded off the radio. It's college radio, so there are very few commercials. I do 8-10 hours a week, depending on which colleges are broadcasting the day of recording. I record 3 specific shows, all dealing with various aspects of progressive rock. Either that or stuff I've downloaded. Moslty prog, and for sure no dance, rap, hip-hop, urban or techno c*a*.

I have a reverse commute. It's about 10 miles and takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on lights and traffic.

The summer is the worst, though. My office is right off Route 1, which is very close to many popular vacation destinations for tourists.

But now that my NB is running the best she ever has, traffic is no problem!

I drive 120 miles round trip M-F to work. Drive home is the easiest as it is anywhere from 2-3 am when I leave work, and there is no one on the highway. My commute is all highway except for about 5 miles. The drive to work is ok, although I have to drive thru 3 construction zones.

I usually listen to either my cd's or Air1 radio. Mostly cd's though.

I commute from my bed to my kitchen, to my living room, to the office, sometimes the bathroom and that's about it

To & from work is about about 30 minutes each way. Then I drive 200-300 miles each day while working. I try my hardest not to fall . In the morning I listen to ESPN radio, during the day it's the ipod, then on the way home I'm on the cell phone (bluetooth earpiece so hands are on the wheel).
JB & Fowvay next time you carpool give me a call, it'll help keep me awake.

OOOooooo--can I join the carpool?

You can just drop me off at my desk/office.

We can rotate who buys the coffee each morning!
