I surprisingly found mine in two places several hundred miles apart. The satellite photos must have been taken just before Thanksgiving in 2004, on two separate passes of the satellite. The first one was taken at about 10 am and the second was taken at about 3 pm, based upon the shadows.

The first one is at the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services, Ruby Station, in Carson City, NV where I was working for the Systems Advocate Office just before the Legislative Session 2005 started. There were very few of us assigned to that building and we had to park in the dirt. And we all knew each other's cars. That is my Bug.

The second one is at my home in the Bay Area, and since Ron has so many MGs, Bug parks on the street in front of the house. Yes, those are all MGs under those car covers. Notice the distinctive shadow of Bug.

Try looking up Microsoft Virtual Earth or Google Earth. With those programs you can zoom in on any location on earth.

Got Google Earth but ... where I live hasn't been updated since the house was built - pre-Zoomer existence!

How did you save and post your pics? I found my house, but didn't know how to save. I'm dumb.

On your keyboard ... hit print screen. Then use paint or whatever (depends on operating system) to paste and save your image in there.

I have also worked at an assay lab in Sparks, NV off-and-on for about 10 years, whenever the backlog got too high. This photo was taken by the same satellite pass that took the one of my work for NV DCFS, same sun angle, same time of day, same trees turning color.

What is interesting is that I can now say for sure that the photo was taken before 10 am. Chet opens the lab at 10 am. There are no vehicles parked in our two parking spaces in front of our door, so Chet's not there yet (green arrow).

Also, the lab's dumpster is still sitting pushed out back of the lab and it is still unemptied. That tells me that the photo was taken on a Tuesday morning, slightly before 9:30 am when the dumpsters are normally emptied (blue arrow).

So, this information combined with the previous two photos tells me that this was taken at a few minutes to 9:30 am on the Tuesday morning before Thanksgiving in 2004.

Okay, I really need to go shovel snow. I am running out of excuses and pencils to sharpen.

I can find my house, but can't zoom in enough to see what's in the driveway.

I'll try my workplace.

Someone might have already told how to do this somewhere on the site, but I can't find it. So, here are the steps.

1. Fill your browser window with whatever you wish to turn into a photo.

2. Move your mouse pointer off to the side so that it is out of the main photo area.

3. Hold down the SHIFT key and press the PRINT SCREEN/SYSRQ key (It is right above the INSERT key on an IBM keyboard).

You have just saved an image of whatever was on your screen to a temporary memory location in your computer. Now we're going to get it out so that you can save it as a file.

4. Left click and hold on START. Slide the mouse pointer up to PROGRAMS, to the right to ACCESSORIES, to the right to PAINT. Release the mouse button over PAINT.

The Paint program will open with a blank white page with a familiar Task Bar across the top.

5. Left click and hold on EDIT, scroll down to PASTE and release mouse button.

WOW, an image of the browser window appears.

6. Left click and hold on FILE, scroll down to SAVE AS and release the mouse button.

A Dialog Box will open asking you where you want to save the file and what you want to call it.

7. Pick a location, type a file name into the highlighted area of the Dialog Box, and if you want to save it as a JPEG, left click on the arrow in the SAVE AS TYPE rolldown menu, slide the pointer to that file type (it will become highlighted), and release the mouse button. Click SAVE.

Okay, now you have saved the whole image of the screen as a JPEG file. You probably don't want all that extra stuff around the edges.

8. Left click on the dotted rectangle at the upper end of the Paint Toolbar. Your mouse pointer will now change if you move it over the image.

9. Eyeball a point at the upper lefthand side of the image and place the mouse pointer over it but don't click just yet.

Is everything to the left and above that point something you don't want? Cool, don't click yet. Remember where that point is.

10. Eyeball a point at the lower righthand side of the image and place the mouse pointer over it but don't click just yet.

Is everything to the right and below that point something you don't want? Cool, don't click yet. Remember where that point is.

Now, you're going to left click on the first point, hold the mouse button down and slide the mouse pointer to the second point and release the button.

11. Okay, do it.

This draws a dotted box around what you want. Cool.

IF the box is not around what you want, left mouse click outside of the dotted box. The dotted box goes away.

Try the left upper corner, mouse click hold and drag to right lower corner and release thing again. You'll get it.

Okay, when you have the part you want with a box around it, you're going to (EDIT)CUT it out, get a (FILE)NEW page, (EDIT)PASTE it onto the new page and (FILE)SAVE it.

Yikes, the center went away. Yes, that's okay. It came back after you got a new page and pasted it onto the new page.

Save this and upload it for us to see Where In The World Is Your Bug!

Should I have put that under some other topic heading and then just pointed Deb to it? I don't know all of the rules here yet.

Not me, but I have nothing to hide.

And I know they aren't out to get me.

Even that guy that always hangs out at the end of the street and follows me to the store and the park.

Paranoid? Nope. Not me.

I wonder why he always carries that camera...

Tom, or Sue? Can I email you the pic I have, and either of you post it? It has my Turbo S in the driveway.
