You don't need to worry too much about it. Those are all terms used to describe various facets of the Bit-Torrent distribution system. You do not need to worry about any of them.
The system is based on a distributed model. You download the small parts of the total package from others, while making your bits available to others so they can download the parts thay do not have. The more people that are swapping bits and pieces, the faster you are able to acquire the whole download. The torrent refers to the potential stream of information from many many sources. |

Before you launch BitTorrent, it pays to familiarize yourself with the lingo. Torrent files are nuggets of information—usually a few kilobytes in size—that point your client to trackers. The sole function of a tracker is to connect BitTorrent users to one another by creating and managing a swarm, which consists of all the seeders, peers, and leechers on a torrent. A seeder is someone who has downloaded a file in its entirety, whereas peers and leechers are those in the process of downloading it. The more seeders in a swarm, the faster you can download the file. Another term you should know is hit 'n run. This is when you close your client immediately after your download is complete. It's considered bad BitTorrent etiquette.
NAT is natural address translation. If you have a router you sit behind this and is a 1st level of defence against internet terrorist. |

[QUOTE=Shutterbug]I love Green Acres!....it's the place to be.[/QUOTE
Green Acres uses names acquired with various valley communities here. There is a small village called Green Acres near Visalia.....There is a town called Pixley on Ca-99 south of Tulare and the train used is actually based in the Jamestown area off Ca-49 near Sonora. |
