Default Flash Gurus?

I am taking a web animation class and, I have to create a banner that advertises the already out "Scanner Darkly". And, the requirements are:
  • Two separate animated masks
  • Two separate motion guided animations
  • Two movie clips containing an animation (nested animations)

What be this 'nested animation'? And, where can I find a tutorial on how to make one? Thanks!

All of these have to be in one banner?

I ma learning Flash at work, and I recently was show how to put a video clip in a Flash file. From what I was shown, nested animations are movies/animations within the animation (you probably already know this). Basically you create one (or in your case two) animations and save them as a movie clip in the library. Then in the 'main' file you create a mask (window) that the movie plays in.

I'm probably way off, but that's what I remember. If I were at work I could pick the file apart, but you'll probably have a response or two here before I can respond tomorrow night.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention:
The main timeline plays until it gets to the movie clip, then the clip plays along with the main timeline.

Am I making any sense, or am I talking Dubya-ese? (Couldn't resist a dig!)

That sounds about right (with the nested animations).

I really dont want to do this assignment. LOL ... Id rather be pushing polygons and vertices than pixels.

With what is listed, you will accomplish all of the items just by including the two movie clips (you need the masks to play them in and they are both motion guided animations, right?)

I believe so. It is a weird assignment. I was gonna use like a flash light type animation (motion guided) to reveal the text we have to include:

"What does a Scanner See?
Into the head?
Into the heart?
Does it see into me?
Clearly were darkly....."

yeah. Then ... perhaps an insect crawling around on a path. But, that is if I have time.

Wow, I helped with Flash!

I am truly learning Flash by the seat of my pants; all on-the-job. One of my co-workers has stepped me through a lot, and I pick things (especially software) up VERY quickly, but I still feel like I have my 'training wheels' on when I develop.

I learn some software quickly. Ones I want to learn. But, as of right now, I'm learning three different things.

Flash
Maya (3D software)
and continuing learning 3D Studio Max ...

I'm about to spring an information leak.

Have you seen the movie (I haven't)? Would this help? I know it uses that crazy animation style where the film was shot, then animators painted in all the characters and backgrounds. Could you play off of that?

Yup. Saw the movie the week after it was released. Rotoscoping. For the images I will probably use the ones in the link he sent us. Even though everyone else will too. Hrmmmmmmmm...

A DEPENDS! HAHA. That would be funny walking into class like that.
