Default Hooray for weight loss!

YAYA YAYAYAYAYAYAYYYYY!!

I have officially lost some weight! My longterm goal is to bottom out at around 190lbs. I'm around 6ft2 so that should be about average.

I have lost 20lbs since the spring...without excersize! Huh?? Yeah it's true. I'm not a big guy really. Just a few extra pounds around my gut. I won't post my actual weight out of my embarassment of how much i let myself go, but let's say i'm a bit over 2 bills.

I used to weigh 250lbs a bunch of years ago and dropped down to 180-185lbs with Stacker 2, but once i stopped taking them i balooned nearly back to where i was. Diet pills are such a scam. People...they just don't work.

I've just adjusted my diet to elimiate candy and things overly sweet. I drink ALOT of caffiene which was what i liked about the stackers, but at least i can enjoy ingesting the stuff now. I eat a ton more veggies. I'm always looking to eat stuff that keep me regular. I'm never without a drink of some kind so i am like an old lady always needing to stop. It's a very slow loss, but i think this time it might stay off.

Anyone else know things to help me do this aside from a workout regimen? Any magic foods that assist in losing weight safely? Let me know.

fingers are crossed...

John

I stopped eating alot of bad crap. Now I only eat crap once in a while. I also stopped eating past 4:30 pm which made me drop about 15 lbs pretty quickly. My weight loss over the past few months has leveled off because I've been stressed and once in a while I've been eating when I shouldnt and eating things I shouldnt. But I havent gained back what I lost which is a good thing. Although noone really can tell I've lost because I wear sweatshirts all the time that are a million sizes too big and my jeans have gotten pretty baggy in certain areas!

Weight loss. Hmm. I'm not really familiar with that term. I could write a book on weight gain though.

Congratulations! Keep up the good work.

Yeah when i was at my 180ish i liked to wear the smaller size shirts and i bought smaller waist pants, but the way i go up and down i cant do that anymore.

I did cut down on the carbs, but i like soda and coffee drinks so it's hard to cut my sugar. I will eat a meat and have just that as a meal, or i might have some edamame(soy beans) and eat a whole bucket of that.

i dunnoo...

I was 323 lbs in November 2004 and I am now 177 lbs as of this morning.

My wife went from about 280 lbs to 158 lbs during the same time period.

We both had gastric bypass (ruan-y) surgery and it was the best decision we have ever made. We're healthy and happy and can actually walk across a parking lot without huffing and puffing.

I've lost about 30 pounds since the start of the year, without too much effort. I was lucky, tho - I had some big changes in my life that let me break some bad habits pretty easily. I cut out soda and most fast food, try to have a very light lunch, and I ride my bike pretty much everywhere. That doesn't sound like much, but it made a difference in my case.

I sit in front of a computer every day, and I was getting portly after a couple years of that. I was in temporary housing when I moved to LA, and I used that time to break my soda addiction and cut way back on junk food. I also began riding my bike everywhere I could (at least 1300 miles this year), and only eating at work (they bring us dinner most nights). There was never any food or drink in my refridgerator, other than water. I've used the stove twice in 8 months.

I went from 190 in January to 160 before I started my vacation a while back. I've probably gained a few pounds since then...if I could just get off the Milk Duds, I could get rid of my last little bit of flab. Those things are tasty, tho.

I don't have a specific weight in mind. I just want to get rid of all the flab, and most of it is gone already! When it's all gone, I'm getting this tattoo at the base of my neck...

i'm nursing so no weird diet drugs. i went for a long walk for the first time in forever yesterday and it felt good. i've been doing my situps to try to get my sixpack back but that's not producing any rapid results. hopefully that excess skin/fat will go away eventually.

i lost some weight w/o exercising much. this is bad but sometimes i would forget to eat or take care of my daughter or try to squeeze in a nap instead. very unlike me to not eat because i love food.

i wish i knew people in the area. seems like it would be fun and motivating to meet up w/ folks to go for a walk or do something active.

anyways, i've got about 15 more pounds i'd like to lose. i just mainly want my tummy back and to fit into the clothes i already own.

gawd...weight loss. ugh. my highest was 245 in 2002. i lost 80 or so and got down to 165. kept it off for awhile. then i was up to 175...then 185...somewhere around 180 -190, i quit smoking. now up over 200. grrr. i feel more uncomfortable now at my present weight (220?) than i did at 245. i guess it's because i got a taste of what it's like to be smaller and i LOVED it. i feel very gross in my own body now.

i'd like to say i'll lose the weight again, but i don't know. i've been big my whole life and i sit on the fence between thinking "i have more things to worry about than being fat" and remembering how great it felt to be smaller. funny thing is, smaller for me was size 14, but damn, i loved it.

maybe i should start smoking again...

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

Well I think most of us have been on the up/down roller coaster ride of weight loss. The program that worked for me was weight watchers. I went from a size 12/14 to a size 4/6 in about 6 months. I haven't been going to class or practicing what I learned about portion control so I am back up some, but plan to start back to meetings next Monday. You would be surprised by the support you get there from both men and women. It is a great program and they teach you how to eat within portions even foods like chips and candy. It is all about real food from the grocery store and even fast food. You can look them up on the web, just type in weigh****chers.com hope this helps someone out there.

Ahhhh ... weight gain/loss.

Im 5'2.5" ... and weigh between 136 - 142. Depends on when I weigh myself and how much I have eaten during the day. Also depends on other things ... grrr ... but, right now, I weigh in at 141. I have gained about 10 pounds in the last 3 years. Sure, not a lot .. but, in the next 10 years I will weight 30 lbs more than I do now! I got a bit of a mid section building up and so, I bought myself this:

It hurts! I cant even get through the whole DVD ... the last 5 - 8 minutes anyway. But, it might be working. :P HA! Right.

I have an addiction to starbucks frapachinos (sp) and IBC Rootbeer. I have also decided that as of today - no meat. It will be hard since I eat a lot of meat. And, starbucks only on mondays. Root beer when I really really really need it (stressful situations). I also plan on eating a salad for lunch (very little ceasar dressing and no MEAT) at least 3 times a week. I rarely eat vegetables too. .... oh well. Just feeling kinda down about my weight gain as of late. I look in the mirror and see myself 'letting myself go'. Ill be 25 in three weeks ... and, I think a change in diet would do me good.

:P

Pilates is a great workout. How often are you doing them? I need to get started back on track with pilates. Even if you aren't making it through the workout right now keep trying you will be surprised at the results you will get if you remain dedicated and consistant with that or any workout program.

WW is what i did, too. weight watchers is about the only "diet" i would recommend to anyone. it's the one that most closely mirrors what you should be doing in real life anyway; eating less (portion control), exercising and not ruling anything out. it doesn't have any gimmicks to it; even the point system is just a way of counting calories, something we should all watch any way.

there's a book called "am i hungry?" that i am reading that i'd recommend to anyone who's lost, gained, neither, both, whatever. it's about your hunger cues and if i could manage to actually follow the book, i'd lose some serious pounds. good reading.

Where did you find the book and who is the author? Does it talk any about stress eating?

i think i bought it used from amazon.com. here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/097...books&v=glance

it talks about different kinds of eaters. i don't know that it specifically covers "stress" eaters though, but i can almost guarantee, you'll find yourself in this book. we all can.

I am doing them when ever I get a chance. Figure that if I could do them about three times a week - every other day - I will be ok. :P I also got a leg one. That one doesnt hurt as bad since I use my legs everyday. :P

One reason you may want to reconsider this is the tremendous benefits of protein on weight loss. Protein triggers that "full" feeling a lot faster than carbs, so when you eat a meal high in protein, you eat less. Just avoid fatty meats - but eat lots of lean meats like chicken, turkey, and fish. Increasing your intake will also help increase metabolism and make it easier to turn fat into muscle if you're exercising regularly.

Plus, lack of protein causes hair loss. I learned this first hand.

(and not that you can't get enough protein as a vegetarian - but it is hard and most people just don't have the time and energy to seek out alternative forms of protein. However, if you insist on no meat, try Unjury - it's the best unflavored powdered protein I've ever tried).

This is true. I doubt that I will give up meat all together. Italian sausage on spaghetti ... brats on the grill. The occassional 'turkey burger' ... I could never give it up 100%.
