Default Drive Safely: Driving me insane since July!

When I was on vacation in the US this year I spotted this Herbie at a Dunkin Donuts in CT.

When I saw it, it struck me funny, I had seen this Beetle before... In a magazine maybe? Online? I wasn't sure but I snapped a picture to try and figure it out later.

So anyway, since July I have, every so often, gone looking for the picture where I had seen this old Beetle before. It's the "Drive Safely" tag that I know I've seen on a Herbie before.

I've been meaning to post this up for months, but I never got to it, I just thought of it today, and as silly as it is, I really want to know.

Thanks Guys!

SMG

In ze olden Days of yore, service stations had attendants who served you. Mobil (yes, Exxon Mobil now) used to market themselves with a red horse. Using Google, I find that it's called "Pegasus"

The tag must have been from those days. 53 = Herbie. Apparently a famous movie star.

But, I know I've seen a Herbie WITH that tag on it from a picture of a car show or something.

I want to prove to myself that I had indeed seen that car before, I remember squinting to read the text on that horse tag.

I'll look you up next time man!

My Mom lives in Farmington, CT and commutes to Hartford, she's the editor of the "Hartford" magazine.

Anyway, I'm down there visiting every so often so I'll be back!

Awesome! Next time I'm going down I'll post up a meet-up thread a few weeks in advance.

I'll probably be summer 2008, but who knows, it might be sooner.
