Anybody have an idea as to why NASCARS now run the elevated rear deck mount spoilers

Its part of the Car of Tomorrow. This new car that they run allows all teams to run the same car at every track, instead of having to build a new one for the different tracks. They have more ability to tweak parts of the car and the car is the same body for all models I believe.

Not sure about the elevated spoiler. But they had a smaller spoiler on the trunk anyway. The new car design may make it that they need it.

Makes sense. I know they had the smaller spoilers prior. It's just interesting to see something so visually different. Looks like a push for the "Fast and Furious" NASCAR style.

As was said before, the new car is called "COT" or Car of Tomorrow which allows the same car to be run at all the tracks versus building specialized cars to fit certain tracks. It is also larger than the car it replaces, moving the driver more towards the center, providing better safety. The spoiler on the trunk lid is adjustable for the various tracks, as is "the splitter", the front end bottom flat piece that is located just above the track surface. The intent on this car was to provide better safety for the driver and to lower costs on the car.
