Why is BUMBLE BEE not a Beetle in TRANSFORMERS?

In the new Transformers why is Bumble Bee a camero and not a Beetle? That seems really stupid to me.

I believe the first part of your comment is spot on. We'll see about the re-launch...they say it will happen but you never know. My beloved Dodge Challenger revamp keeps getting death threats all the time...

They had a commercial the other day on the net, there's so many GM vehicles and GM backing into that movie it might as well be called Transformers: The GM Movie

Actually... the real answer according to Michael Bay, VW would not allow them to license the VW as a transformer, so they went with Chevy since they were the lead sponsor.

I had been watching videos about the making of the movie, and that was one of the topics that came up.

Apparently VW didn't want to be associated with the Transformers any longer which seems very strange.

Go figure huh?

VW is pretty much trashing the bug as it is. Newer bugs have ONE engine choice, no turbo, no real options, only a few color choices.

And yet, In Europe, you can still order pretty much every VW engine ever made including the Turbo. The European VW site offers *many* options , engines, colors, wheels, etc.

One article I read online said that VW had considered making their U.S. presence MUCH smaller , or withdrawing completely. But I can't prove the authenticity of the article, but considering what VW is doing, I'd say it's a safe bet that if you want a nice bug in a few years, it will be an import.
