I'm glad that dirty clothes seems to be the worst for you, and I hope all else get things back together easily and quickly.
Sorry, but I enjoyed the half of the "high water" sign, but I guess that was the idea behind the picture.

So sorry about your clothes and shoes especially! But you still were lucky, looking at the pics. Is your house on higher ground?

Since I don't know the area, what river are you by? Was the flood a result of a lot of rain upstream from you, or what? By concidence, I was listening to "I'm So Glad" by Cream (ask your parents about them) while readign this thread. I was just thinking the music appropriate to your situation.
Good luck in your clean-up chores, and I hope your town gets back to normal quickly. |

Sorry about your basement Beth--get that pumped out as quick as you can and then spray it down with some diluted bleach water to prevent mold . I am on one of the highest points in my county, but I got a trickle at the base of one of my basement walls where I need to fix the grade outside. Lots of rain, huh? First we get drought for months, then floods.
I recognize the area where most of the pics were shot, that Nat'l Guard motor pool and maintenance shop was part of the unit I went to the first Gulf War with--I am glad I'm out, looks like lots of maintenance will be needed on those trucks!..and to answer someone elses question, yes, the Rocky Fork of the Mohican River is what flooded the area. |

well we have the sandusky river and the olentangy river close by. I think there are a few more but I cant think of names right now. The flood was mainly because we had gotten 9 inches of rain in one night on top of rain that we have been getting about every day like a inch a day for the last like 4-5 days. We even got more rain today! the rain caused the rivers and creeks to overflow, knocking out bridges, cars, streets, and buildings! Lots of main streets are closed like state routes etc. on top of this not even a week ago we had a tornado pass through like 2 of them! This poor area is a mess!

Dear Lord that's terrible!! I'm glad you're okay and that you didn't suffer catastrophic damage.
Here's to no more rain, quick drainage and plenty of sunshine.

Beth, did you survive the 2nd storm without getting flooded?!
I work on the north side of Findlay. We had 33 people call off on Tuesday due to the flooding. On Wednesday we only had 18 people still at work by 11:00am, everyone else went home. In Ottawa, about 25 miles west of Findlay, they are expecting the water not to go down for a couple more days. I have a lot of friends in Ottawa, so I expect to be helping some of them with their clean up efforts. We were very fortunate in that we only had flooding down our Main St, with no property damage. I hope Greybugger & his family are OK they live in Arlinton, which was hit pretty hard as well. ![]()
