Default My little BeBe got hit tonight :(

So tonight I was on my way home from work, in rush hour traffic. I was in the far right lane just humming along when all of a sudden I saw a Jetta veer over into my lane. I honked but it was too late, our mirrors collided. We pulled over exchanged info, etc. The police (2) came. The one cop had a stick up his butt, the other just kinda hung back. Fortunately for both vehicles, just some scrapes. The other lady's Jetta's gonna need a new mirror, her lens shattered and the housing got bent forward. My mirror got scratched up good, my left fender and the side of the bumper have some scratches, but I did get some decent scrapage on my front driver side wheel, I think our wheels hit. It could have been much worse. Maybe it was divine intervention...when I got to the next intersection a mile away, there was a major wreck that took place about the time I would have been by there had I not been bumped by the Jetta.

So here's damage pics.

left mirror

Wheel damage

Called both insurance companies, mine is probably gonna send someone out before the end of the week to do an estimate. The other lady's insurance was very short with me and told me they'd get back to me when they talked to her....but she had already called and a claim number had already been assigned on her end. We'll see what happens

BeBe's pride is bruised but I promised her she'd get fixed one way or another.

Hope your bug is better than new in no time flat. Sucks to have your pride and joy damaged. My wife and I bought our bug a month ago and within a week some randomly vandalized 20+ cars in our apartment complex. Of course they had to hit the windshield of Sunny. So $240 bucks later, we were fixed (deductable was $250).

Accidents happen, but vandalism is NOT cool. Sorry to hear about Sunny At least it was just the glass (right?). I can't leave my car parked outside at night, that's asking for trouble. One night I did and came out and found someone had stuck a beer bottle under each tire and then hand printed all over the driver side. Oh and I did get a new emblem put on my hood just over a month ago and the other day I came out and discovered it now looks like someone mashed it a bit with some kind of sharp object Some people out there just plain suck!

Yeah, I know what you mean. My other car is a Honda Civic and we have had that since it was new in '95. We have had to replace a lot of parts on that car from people hating on it. Now people hate on New Beetles for a different reason for sure.

So sorry about the scrapes, KatWoman! It's good that it looks very minor, though I know that even that is infuriating. I hope it gets back to perfect quickly!

Thanks For the first 3 seconds I was @#$%ing pissed but it is very minor, not worth losing sleep over. I lost my little Saturn last year and that was a much bigger pain in the arse. We got through that one, this too shall pass.

In the grand scheme of things, it could have been worse. I am happy that it wasn't an injury accident. Perhaps later, you can look at this incident as the two VW's tried to "kiss" each other.

Sorry to see your NB hurt. I know I would be upset, too. Hope it's all better real soon.

Holy cow, my supervisor said the exact same words after I told her about it this morning. When I talked to my insurance co. last night the rep I spoke to chuckled at the fact it was 2 VW's involved. Hopefully we'll have a resolution soon, I just hope neither company throws this on the backburner because the damages are minor compared to alot of other things.

you gotta stay after insurance companies. They will put off as long as they can.
My husband got in an accident in a rental car a few years ago and Nationwide didnt pay for over a year. The rental car company took my husband to court and got a judgement because of it. Not like we had $20,000 in our pockets to pay for the car so we waited for the insurance to cover it because they said they would pay. That was a fun mess to clean up!

Was that your insurance co. or someone else's insurance co.? They want all your money but they sure are reluctant to pay!

I checked my home voicemail a bit ago and the other lady's insurance left a message saying they'd take care of the damages. So when I get off the switchboard here at work I'm gonna call some body shops to see if I can get my own estimates this weekend or next Friday. Keep your fingers crossed for BeBe...I am hoping to get all this fixed with as little drama as possible. I'm sure at some point I will need a rental car for a day or so <sigh>.

Sickness! That's the first thing I thought!!! At least it was another VW.

Sorry about your BeBe. No one got hurt and she can easily be fixed with just a day or two away from home.

I got a chance to return the ins. co's call. They admitted liability and told me to pick a shop. The VW dealer I've been dealing with (and bought BeBe at) told me they have someone onsite that can repair my damages, and it would get probably done faster than sending it to an actual body shop. The insurance co. will also provide a rental car. I called my ins. and told them the other side is paying, so hopefully that will be it on my end. BeBe will be happy again!

OOh I know which one you're talking about. I used to pass that place every night on the way home...they always had VW's, Benz's and other nice cars there for repair. Isn't the owner named Bud? I think I had to deliver something there once for one of the attorneys at my office. Just across the road from them is a place called VW Island...dunno if that's repair/body or speed shop. See lots of cool new and old VWs parked there.

Fantastic... thank goodness you don't have to fight with the ins. co. on that. Looks like BeBe will be as good as new in no time at all!!!
