Default Keep your fingers crossed: Speed may get moving this Friday

My 98 NB, Speed Buggy, has been sitting for nearly two years. Yes, that is terrible, but the $$$ for the clutch replacement has always been needed other places. I did drive him a little bit here and there, but I think I have put less than 100 miles on him in that time. To top it all off, he decided he didn't want to start this past spring, so he hasn't moved.

Well he has no choice; he has to be moved from my old house to the new house. Friday is the day. We're going to push start him and see what happens. If he runs, he'll take the short drive (less than half a mile) to the new house. If he doesn't start, I'll call AAA and get him towed to the house.

Please say a little prayer and keep your fingers crossed for me. I would love to take him for a spin Friday.

Yep, he really has been neglected. If all goes well though, he'll get:
  • A bath at the new house
  • An oil change
  • A new starter (if that truly is the issue)
  • His new VR6 clutch installed
  • A full interior detail
  • A fresh coat of wax
He has already received:
  • A full tank of gas
  • A new fuel filter
  • A new throttle body
He'll be good as new soon! If he runs, that is.

Poor speed will probably need to have his entire fuel system cleaned starting at the injectors and working your way back. Old fuel is insideous.

Wow, if he already has a full tank of gas, that's like half the cost of the other jobs needed!

Best of luck, Chris!

He's ALIVE!!!!!

Well, mostly alive. Speed definitely has a bad starter. We pushed started him on Friday and he fired right up and ran VERY smooth. I didn't want him to stall out, so I drove him right to the new house and let him idle in the driveway for awhile. I kept catching whiffs of coolant (sweet odor) but there were no leaks and I hadn't yet replaced the cowl after installing the new throttle body.

But he's alive and kicking!
