Default So what do you do to get your NB ready for Winter?

When wintertime is on the way, what do you guys do to get your Buggies ready for the chilly months?

What I do:

Change to stock plastics - My real euro clearcorners, rear fog and R&W tails are going to be hard to get in a few years, gotta keep them looking good

Switch to my winter tire and rim combo - Studded winter tires and 16" 'Monte Carlo' rims.

Put in Monster mats - Not here yet though, I suspect they're going to be an Xmas present this year.

I always buy some serious wiper blades, the skinny summer ones just don't cut it

What else do you guys do?

SMG

Hmm...got my NB during the spring so i'd never had to do anything with it for winter...any suggestions? I have some pretty good tires on there.

Store it in the garage. Well, the NBC anyway.

Otherwise, for the S, probably an oil change, and blankets in the backseat. It's my daily driver, and I have no choice. If I get to work, then it snows, I'm not gonna try to get home in it. Next time I'm leavin' it in the parking garage, and takin' the bus!

My car sat for five days in this downtown street spot, frozen. I should'a left it in the parking garage, half a block away

I spray oil on my suspension pieces, wax my springs and shocks, wax pomelo, slap on my snow tires and pray for snow.

I'm with Jay. I wash Hopper and park him in the garage where he remains for most of the winter.

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

-put a good coat of wax on in the fall
-oil spray rustproofing (www.krown.com)
-winter rims/tires (VW steelies and Pirelli Winter Carving) -1 sizing (i.e. 205/55/16 summers to 195/65/15 winters)
-snow brush in car
-Rain-X washer fluid in reservoir (not only does this stuff do a good job cleaning the glass, but it leaves the Rain-X stuff behind so water beads off)
-and this year, I replaced my burned out side view mirrors

Blanket in the car
Foil Emergency blanket
Something to drink
Some Cliff Bars
Mars Bar
Glowsticks (I just wanna rave all night )
Jump leads
Big Coat
Slush Mats
cheapo plastic poncho
Rain-X washer fluid container to fill it up

Most of that lives in all our cars year round, and can be packed in a very small space, but in winter I make sure it's easier to get to.

Step 1. If Beetle is parked in drive way for some odd reason, open garage door. If Beetle is already in garage, procede to Step 4.

Step 2. Insert Beetle into garage.

Step 3. Close garage door.

Step 4. Wait for spring.
