This is not the greatest thread in the world -- this is just a tribute.
Someone mentioned "dearly departed" on another thread, in reference to banned members, but it made me think about some of the people I really miss from previous days of NewBeetle.org. So yes, it's sort of goofy, but this thread is a tribute to the lost, retired, disappeared, married (basically the same as lost), or even banned members that we love and miss. I'll start.
ShmoopieSpette: Yvette Walters, you rock. I miss you dearly. Damn you for going off and getting married. As the administrator, I shouldn't play favorites, but I'd be lying if I said you weren't my favorite member of all time. Man, those were the good ol' days. I hope you're doing well, Jigga Vette. If you're still in H-Town, look out for that storm. SlipperyWnWet: Amber, banning you was the hardest thing I've ever had to do on this site. Sometimes I still regret it. I know you had your turbulence with other people here, but I still love you and I miss you. And you've still got the hottest-looking Beetle I've ever seen. If you see this, write me sometime.  Oh there are more. And I'll come back to mention them. But those two came to mind right away. Who do you miss?

some people i haven't seen on the org in some time, for whatever reason: vwdave1, nate & kizmet, michelle, pingpong, and jeff already mentioned amber...just a few of the folks who welcomed me to the .org in '01, answered some of my silly questions, etc. etc.

I'm still around, just not posting hardly at all given that work has now gone completely natzi on us and has fired a few engineers for posting on websites from work (yep, seen it in person!) Given that I sit on a computer for 45-60 hours a week at work, I have little desire to look at one on my own time. Mozelle is now driving and I'm busy making money to afford gas for her truck (until we can buy her a TDI) and spending time with my boyfriend riding motorcycles.
Nate'N'Kizmet is currently going to school last I heard a couple of months ago, hopefully he's doing well. I haven't talked with him in a while. Kizmet is no longer -- Nate's now driving a Lexus as far as I know. I typed with Michelle a couple of months ago, she seemed to be doing really well. Last I heard of Yvette, (shmoopiespette) she and Cash were divorcing, but that of course is subject to change and second hand information, which I got from Boggus who has also gone to the dark side. I think he's driving a Ford 500 now. Sometimes I miss the "good ol' days" when the "Three Muskateers" (Nate, Chris and I) were active on the boards, but life gets in the way and people change (boy, did some people change!) But I like my life as it is right now and we are all products of our experiences, so it is what it is... |

I really miss Michelle. She was the first one to talk with me when I joined. I was a real newbie and she was as sweet as can be to me!! Yes, and I too miss Ryan. He was always entertaining when he wasn't posting a million pictures!!!

I regret that NapplesBear was banned, YES he crossed the line, he got cranky, but he was right about the Iraq fiasco (luckily you can read the old forum!)...I miss T.J. a lot, yeah he was outspoken, bombasstic, and plain silly sometimes but as some other missing or banned they injected a funny, weird and unique flavor to the org.
I dont know exactly why T.J. was banned, but I know what he is going through, and sometimes we just "go balistic over a silly thing" Lately I have seen a lot of banned members....will there be a "amnesty season?" p.d. even some "heavies here" would be considered "polite"in Vortex... my Vortex motto Vortex forums where flame suits are considered common sense!
