Default nintendo 64 (N64) fans, anyone?

well, i went semi-oldschool yesterday and bought a used nintendo 64 at gamestop here in town. primarily because i saw this game and thought, cool! so i got the N64 for $20 and it came with one controller, all cables and the unit. didn't have a memory pak, but i am borrowing one from a friend.

anyone still have one of these? they came out in 1996, i believe. anyone have any games they'd recommend? i like RPG games, but don't like sports games. right now i have castlevania 64 and it's pretty cool, though i am SO not used to the N64 controllers! too...many...buttons! i like the old NES controllers - much simpler.

anyway, any tips, advice, etc. is appreciated. or, if anyone has any games and wants to sell them.

ooooooooh, that's cool! the NES was the last console i really played and liked. i liked the non-3d games, honestly. i have a ton of NES games (800+) on my computer and emulators, too. PM me if you ever want them. it's a hit and miss thing, but most of the games work, as do the emulators.

Mmmmm...I still have my N64 and my Sega Genesis. I love them both. I played Beetle Adventure Racing before...pretty cool. I loved Mario Kart though and Mario 64 and was kinda addicted to Banjo Kazooie for a long time. I had emulators on my computer for a while too to use when I didn't feel like hooking up my system. I wish I still had my NES but my basement flooded and it was on the floor there...and yeah...didn't quite survive the water.

I don't play games too often. When i do though i like classic games. New classics for PS2, PS1 are good as well, like the GTA, TonyHawk stuff. I do have NES, SNES, N64 emulators. Presently next to my PS2 is my original SNES dec in perfect working order, even have the ridiculously large light gun for it. Sadly, i lost some of my games and am down to only 5 of them. Wish i still had Fzero though. I have a Zelda, Starfox, and Mario Bros. game for it that are just pure classics.

Toadman, that NEX thing is the shiznizzle! Famicon support too.

As for N64, my ex's kid had one and it's not too bad. The Mario games are awesome, Super Smash Bros. is cool, and of course you got two Zelda games that are fantastic (Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask).

Ahhh the good ol days.

Hmmm...new head unit....flip screen....custom NES console in the dash...retro style inside and out...anyone up for the project?

agreed. that's why i got the actual console. my N64 emulator is not too good and freezes up / runs too fast so it's a pain to use.

i've only played a PS2 once and wow, it was soo complicated for me. damn, can you tell i am getting old? LOL.

My favorite game for the N64 was Goldeneye 007

I liked the missions and playing with TWO controllers, one in each hand

callisto, legend of zelda is a must! I still have my N64, not too many games for it though. I remember renting Beetle adventure racing, but I never bought it I think I might go look for it though

My original nintendo and super nintendo still miraculously work!

It's always up on eBay. It's not the greatest game, but it's still a pod pak.

I have a N64. I also have Beetle Adventure Racing. That game is awsome! And 007 is the best game ever made for the N64.

i am heading to the game stores at the mall tomorrow. tons of games to be found on ebay, too. i can't wait to try out the beetle game! i definitely want a zelda game. i LOVED the original zelda for the NES and yes, i've beaten gannon.

i will probably get mario kart / other mario games and some kind of banjo kazooie game, too. jenn, i am going to look into 007. you played two controllers at once? what?! you're nuts! i can't handle one at this point!

oh, and a kirby game is a must, too!

Give it some time Erin. Soon it'll grow on you like herpes. 2D eventually becomes a novelty once the more 3D stuff grabs you.

ok, it's official, i suck at N64 games. i've played star wars episode 1 racer and i can't tell the track from the walls from things i am not supposed to run into. am i just retarded or are these games / system just not for me? i used to be really good at video games...

then i played star wars, shadow of the empire and i have no clue how to do anything. i just feel like i am wandering around the scene, trying not to get hit. i guess i am not even enjoying them at all because i can't control my ship / character and the 3D thing is throwing me way off. i know it's only my first day, but i am used to being able to actually DO something in video games instead of just sitting there, wandering around...

suggestions?

You're having trouble with those games because they suck. Try the more popular titles. Stick with the names you know and go from there.

I have an opriginal NES, it's still plugged in. It just barely works cuz of how worn out the concasts are in the console. Also, for the NES in car idea that i was having, the NEX has regular video output on it, if i were to add a regular nintendo to a car, i'd also have to have a tv tuner so i can get channel 3 or 4. ANd the regular nintendo is soo sensitive that a bumpy ride would reset the game soncole (or is mine really that bad that you cant move the console once you actually get a game to work?)
