Ok, so they JUST released the controller for this, and first thing I thought was, WTF!
Although reading more into it, seems like it could be a cool Controller article here What does everyone else think? Quite frankly I think it'll be pretty innovative, and really open up some news way to play games. It'll be nice to see some actually games in use with this controller. However, I am really looking forward to this system now ![]()

I've always been a Nintendo freak, to this day, the only other console besides Nintendo I've bought is a PSP, pretty sweet let me tell you, but I'm sticking to Nintendo. I know that with the GameCube, they fell a bit behind PS2 & X-Box. It looks like in this one they're going to be ahead ( hopefully ). Anyway, here's a link for a small video on the controller. Didn't click on yours, so I don't know if it is the same one or not.

I hear what you're saying & yes you're right, they need to quit sticking to making games only for smaller kids, that has been their downfall. Have to give them props for sticking with that, but if they really want game developers to make games for them, they are going to have to go all the way BTW Nintendo rules

Nintendo is the only console manufacturer not losing money. They may be in 3rd place in total market share, but they have greater cash reserves than their competition, less overhead, and aren't going ANYWHERE.
I think the Rev controller is very, very interesting. It brings entirely new (and more intuitive) methods of interacting with games, which could very well bring in new gamers. People scoffed at the DS's second screen, and along comes Nintendogs with massive appeal outside normal the normal gaming demographic. There are two things that Nintendo needs to do to really make this a success. First, they need to release compelling first and second party titles that really take advantage of the controller's motion sensing features. I have no doubt they'll do this. Second, they need to make the technology easily accessible and easy to use for third party developers, so that they will be willing to incorporate the technology into their cross-platform titles. If this happens, then the new controller could really BE a revolution. |

I remember reading this somewhere in the past. Basically Sony and Microsoft are losing money. Sony is losing money period, the company is being put down in all markets BUT the Playstation and one other thing. Xbox apparently, never caught on over in Japan like it has here. Call it the software or what, but Japanese gamers have different tastes than American game players. I think nintendo will appeal to who nintendo has appealed to all this time. Guess we shall see ![]() BTW, that demo video was awesome. |

Nintendo is like Apple. Both companies develope some very exciting technologies... and both have been said to be doomed since forever. Nintendo is my preferred gaming company as their interfaces and graphics look more impressive than what my friends' PS2's do. However, I do see that to make the GameCube appeal to the Playstation folks.. ya gotta have some good RPGs. So far, they don't have anything that's really been enticing to justify the purchase since all the RPGs avaiable have a PS2 version and then some. Sadly, I haven't played a game console in ages. This new controller might change that, who knows. I don't even use my hand-me-down-playstation 2 because it is a first revision and it doesn't play burned DVDs (so much for being the DVD player).
*Note: The Slim and Full sized PS2s that you get off the shelf today do play burned DVDs, this unit is "ancient." |

I'm not sure what to think about it, but I'll be buying one for sure. I remember when the DS first was announced I wasn't too excited. I got excited when they finally came out, and I was able to hold one and check it out a little. I spent a few days trying to find a DS of my own and then it sat around pretty much unused until Nintendogs came out, except for the occasional Mario mini-game.
The stylus control is cool, but I'm not too overwhelmed with the games so far. This revolution controller idea is interesting, and I'll be checking it out as soon as I can, I just hope there is something new to do with it. |

Seems a bit like a TV remote, but also neat looking.
I love NINTENDO, and always have. Great system.

I wish they would build the old 8-bit box again.. except make one cartrige with like 50 games on it (put an SD Card type interface in it) call it the 20th anniversary edition or something...
would sell like hotcakes to all of us children of the 80's its not like we cannot get the game ROMs online if we wanted..

What is Nintendo thinking? Didn't they learn a lesson after Super Nintendo? Does anyone remember that the original Playstation (PSX) was supposed to be "The Nintendo Playstation" but let the concept fall through their fingers? I think whoever said it is right, they need to focus on games and not worry about fancy controller or console gimmicks. They have always had stable platforms to play on, but they always go with a gimmick. I have had every system Nintendo has put out aside from the handheld units and they make quality stuff. FOCUS Nintendo...FOCUS! Games are more important than hardware!
blah blah my opinion ![]()

The thing abotut the new Revolution's controller isn't just that it looks sexy in that iPod way, it's that it changes the whole gaming paradigm the same way the iPod's dial interface changed the MP3 world. I think that during the escalating arms race of processors and MIPS and features between Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo wisely stepped back and re-thought the philosophy of gaming, burning the whole house down and rebuilding it from scratch. Remember the NES? Remember when videogames were about having fun with friends and family, long before you logged on to frag random people basically anonymouly in FPS deathmatches? Remember when, because you weren't quite used to the concept of modern console gaming, you twitched and moved with your controller as if it would help your character move (you know you did)? Nintendo Revolution seems to take all of this into account. They've made videogaming fun again, and that is a revolution. PS3? Xbox 360? These systems' names mean next to nothing. The Nintendo Revolution is the best-named system today. That said, I've already had my Xbox360 pre-ordered and pre-paid for months. But, that doesn't mean I won't get a NR when they come out to unwind between Halo deathmatches with my friends. ![]()

My thoughts exactly, stiil remeber those days when I was moving the controller up for when I wanted Mario to jump higher or to the right when I wanted him to run faster. With this system Nintendo is breaking the mold, once againg for videogame consoles, they're bringing a new concept to the market, which Sony & Microsoft are only kinda re-inventing themselves. Hopefully this time Nintendo will take full advantage of their new technology, hopefully they will keep up to par to the PS2 & XBOX 360 games. |
