I have Geico right now but thinking of making a change. What does everyone else have and what do you think of them?

I have State Farm. Have 4 cars and my house. Always been treated fairly and prompt settlements. I'll stick with them.

I have AIG and I really wouldn't recommend them. I had an accident in October and the guy who hit me also had AIG. I feel like I've been handling the claim myself.

The price is fair, but if you get it just pray that you don't get into an accident with a driver that has the same insurance!

We use USAA, which is for military members only. The 2 cars and renters insurance is not horrid but is expencive because we are over seas. One more reason I will be glad to go back to the states. When we get back I think they are going to handle our morgage.

Yeah I had USAA, Love them (still have a checking account) but they ended up being a little higher then Geico, of course that could be cuz Geico gave me a 15% since I work in State Government.

I will say this....you get what you pay for, as per State Farm commercials. I have Progressive, and they were very rersponsive to my claim, however, they had to do things "their way" before I could tell them to do things "my way". That ALLLLLLL being said, just make sure you have coverage for what you beleive you will need

I also have Geico. eh. They're fine I guess.

Can I tell a short story about Progressive? I got in a fender bender a few years back with someone that had progressive. I ran into them from behind because the guy in front of him slammed on his brakes, then just drove off. The car in front of me only had a dent where the license plate screw was. Progressive contacted me and said I need to pay however many hundreds of dollars. I said "What did they have fixed?" They didn't know. "Can I see an estimate?" They didn't know. "How do I know what exactly I'm paying for?" No answer. They left me alone for a few months, then called back. Same conversation happened, and I haven't paid yet. I'm not paying for mysterious repairs! I dunno, it just didn't leave me with a great impression.

Farmers - been great. Lots of discounts to be had if you find the right agent. But I would recommend not shopping on price alone, you really need to compare the coverages being proposed and make sure it's adequate and you feel like you've covered your risk.

We have two cars and homewoners with Country Companies at the moment. But if they "do" us, I will shop around. I am not loyal to any insurance company, and if the rates rise for no reason, they're gone.

Had:
Farmers (We liked our agent)
American Family
GEICO
Farmers (again, we like the agent)
Country Companies

We went with CC after our sons best friends Mother became an agent, and gave us a rate we couldn't pass up. She quit after a bit, and our policy was handed off to someone else. We have never heard from the new agent, after being told we would. So, they will probably soon be gone, too.

Our Farmers agent was the best.

I had 21st Century for years... back when they were 20th Century even. I didn't care for them all that much. I switched to Progressive about 6 months ago and they are OK... I haven't had a reason to NOT like them, but this thread kinda scares me. LOL

I shopped around and ended up with 21st Century, they were by far the least expensive. I had them years ago when they were 20TH Century. I have never had to file a claim other than windshield/rock issues so don't know what they are like if I ever had a "real" problem. Had Farmers many years ago and they and the agent both sucked. I suppose you will always find some who love a company and some who hate the same one. Hopefully I will never have to find out just how responsive or unresponsive 21ST Century is.

The only reason I left 20TH Century years ago is that I bought a 1965 Mustang and they would not insure it.

State Farm customer for over 20 years and I have been extremly pleased with them. I have tried a few other insurance companies for other vehicles like motorcycles and boats but have always kept my car insurance with them. I now have them take care of all my insurance needs. I don't think there is a better company out there.

I had never heard of 21st Century before I saw the website below. You might want to reconsider after reading this guy's ordeal.

i recently checked out some quotes at http://www.oneshopinsurance.com they have a couple of known companies here. so it's cool. actually there are things that we all have to consider. Age is a major consideration. Old vehicles pay a higher premium than new ones. The type and model of the vehicle has a major role also. When buying car/auto insurance online, there are sites that provide automated tools. They’re using an auto coverage analyzer where you have to answer a few question about your financial standing, automobile condition, etc. From this information it will generate what category of coverage you need.
