Congrats to you! Not much VeeDub stuff in San Diego.....but you have to go to the SD Zoo and/or Wild Animal Park, the AeroSpace and Natural History Museums, tour the Midway, go to TJ, to experience the other side of the border, Sea World, and go to the Corvette Diner in the Hillcrest section (a Hard Rock Cafe type theme) that has great food. Go to Pacific Beach as well. All of that takes more time than you probably have, so pick and choose what you like to do best....and where you will be staying and the mode of transportation you have....though the SD Trolley has been expanded and does go to many places depending on your hotel location. Have lots of fun!!!!

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

I always had a good time in San Dog when I was waiting to hop the carrier out to sea. Of all the times I was there, like 18-20 times, I never had enough time to visit the Zoo. Oh well, maybe the wife and I will go someday soon.

I would usually wind up at Horton plaza. Either that or just ride the bus around to check out the sights. I really enjoyed seeing the 5 or so buildings that are topped with green neon at night. Cool!

San Diego is a cool city. All of my family sans myself and my mom live there.
The zoo and/or Sea world is an ALL DAY attraction...especially the wild animal park. All three are amazing, but DAMN. The Hyatt you are staying at is pretty nice, and should have a nice view if you get high enough on the building and face the right directions. Definately visit the beach. Mission Bay area is always a fun little beach town. Tons of cool attractions and rides, and the beach which is beautiful. You can ride the bikes or rollerskate on the boardwalk.
Balboa park is amazing. Tons of museums. REALLY cool musuems.
Dont forget Old Town. Great food and a cool piece of SD history. little Italy is down there off towards india street, you could visit the star of india, a really cool old boat in the port of downtown. You could visit La Jolla to see all the rich people's homes. If there is a new car that you would love to see in real life, this is the place to do it at.

But San Diego is such a cool town with so much to do that it all depends on where you want to start, how much you want to spend both money-wise and time-wise.

The zoo and sea world are pretty close to the actual city of SD. The Wild Animal Park is WAAAY the hell out of the city, so if transportation is not there for ya, i'd scratch that out, however there is busses and i think the trolley goes out there now, however im not totally sure on that one.

Ill be down there for a day or two at the end of may with my new new beetle on a road trip!
But congrats and have fun!

The Manchester Hyatt is in downtown SD, which is a way popular place. It used to be a dive that everyone avoided like the plague until they rebuilt downtown with Horton Plaza, shops/restaurants, condos, and recently Petco Park, which you can walk to see a Padres game. Downtown is also very safe, so need need to worry. Mission Bay, a few miles north is where all the water activity is.....renting sailboats, jetskis, etc. The marinas are mostly over at Shelter Island or in Mission Bay, near the Hyatt Islandia. Little Italy and Old Town are good places to eat for sure. Seaport Village, which is a shopping area is nearby your hotel, too. The trolley does not go to the Wild Animal Park, which is up next to Escondido, about 30-35 miles or so from your hotel. You'll be inundated with things to do there, just enjoy and have a great time! You can walk to the Midway from your hotel. What is also neat to watch are the airplanes on approach that seam to snake thru the high rises (they actually don't) on approach to Lindbergh Field. Sit on the left side of the airplane when coming and you will see why.
