We had a thread like this on the old .org. Figured it was time for a new one.

I'm about a year away from a replacement for my 4Runner, so I've been putting a lot of thought into what I want next. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like I can get any of them optioned out the way I want, so if one of the manufacturers makes a change to the lineup over the next year, that could be the deciding factor.

My TOP Choice:

Audi A3. I really want the 3.6 Quattro, but so far, that's only available in an auto.

Second Choice:

Audi A4. I can actually configure this one perfectly. Except, not available in a color that really jumps out at me. But that's rather minor.

Third Choice:

VW Passat. Again, can't get the options I want AND get a manual.

Fourth Choice:

VW R36. If they'll give us the 4 door, this could be the winner.

Fifth Choice:

BMW 330xi. I can configure this one exactly as I would want, just not top on my list.

Sixth Choice:

Toyota FJ Cruiser. Kinda cool. Just not sure.

Seventh Choice:

Nissan XTerra. Not bad. Only downside is no sunroof. Also, not sure I want another SUV.

Sadly...

I think my next vehicle will be a mini-van... or perhaps a small SUV (CRV?)

I'm not ready for a mini-van...

We just bought an '06 Toyota Sienna w/10" DVD, blah blah blah. It's a wonderful vehicle, but my wife hates the mini-van stigma.

Why a mini van? You only have one kid, very doable in a compact car, the largest car I have owned since motherhood has been a Nissan Sentra. (Even with having Ollie around now, things are still doable, roof racks do help)

My next car may have to be a route car, Jeep has 175k route miles and a lot of rust, I am trying to avoid another car though as there is some talk my office might be getting LLVs. If I have to buy a replacement car, it will have to be something convertible to RHD, automatic, and preferably diesel or E85 ready.

My next car will be a Passat TDI wagon. (95-97 vintage).

If that's not doable then a Jetta TDI wagon.

Way I see it, this car's gotta get me to 30...better be something I can throw 500k on.

This is the sensible side of me coming out.

My next car (AKA Stable mate for Zoomer)... it really depends on how much I make 5 years after I graduate!

But, I would like an Aquarious Blue NBC with a gray top. 2.0L Turbo (if they ever make that)... gray leather sport seats. Then ... I can mod the HECK out of it and scare people.

Or ... a mini with a Turbo.

Or ... that's it really.

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

It's not even that.....cars have gotten so darn expensive that I now view them as a tool rather than a toy to some degree. I am keeping my CRV for a long time, so my guess is the Beetle will be the next car replaced......the wife has said she would take a new Beetle in a heartbeat. She also likes the Scion tC or the new Honda Civic EX Coupe. She also hates spending gobs on cars too (we would never lease as we keep our cars longer than a lease makes sense to do). Depending on the condition of my CRV when that time comes, we might relegate it to 2nd tier status, which might mean a Honda Pilot EX would be the next replacement. We are a few years away from dealing with car issues thank god. The kid in college is our first priority right now.

I drive my cars a long time because I like them so much I'm averaging about 10-13 years per car. I haven't given a thought as to what might come after the NB. Maybe a TDI? Right now this car is way too much fun

Look at all the traitors!!

As Jebus is my witness....i am driving and will always be driving nothing less than a Beetle. There is no other car on the road that i would even CONSIDER owning.

Now....if i were to buy a second car?? Still VW. It's all that i like.

I have always wanted a Thing; maroon colored. Or a lowrider two-tone Bus...blue and black.

You want new? That Eos is sounding hella good. I'm not a vert fan, but i could be convinced for this badboy.

Fantasy? Concept 1 reproduction.

I'm a purist. What more can i say? Driver found.
