hmmmmmmmm interesting....should be some data for this, as the records should show prior registered owner(s) and emissions testing. I see its going for $5600 currently.....good luck bidding!!

I wish I knew how Mercedes does this: Making 25 year old cars look relatively new and fresh.

Good luck, Porkchop!

I found that much, Larry... I was hoping to see the full report without paying $20 though.

What I found interesting though....0 records returned. Hopefuly someone has an unlimited Carfax subscription, as there may not be very much useful data returned in the report. If you go to the website I posted, you can find pics of various maintenance services that have been performed over the years. Interesting car and very clean. I've had clients who have had this model and they give it very high remarks.

It went for $10K - I was only willing to bid $8400. Interestingly, it went from $6K to $10K in the last 30 seconds.

But that's okay... they didn't start the turbo diesels until 1982 - so I'd rather have an '82 to '85. But man, that was one clean 300 wagon

If it has ZERO records, nothing would show up on carfax. It would just say previous owner information not available. No state, no port entry, no service records and such. I've ran VINs on a couple of newer cars like that before. I'm not really sure why there are no records for them , but whatever you do, don't waste $20, cause you're not going to get any more info on it.

I'm not sure... unless its a midyear change maybe? But several sites states no turbo diesels until 1982.

BTW, 300 TD refers to "Touring Diesel" - "Touring" is the wagon body style. It doesn't stand for Turbo Diesel

The 300SD Turbo (4 door sedan) was around in 1981.....my bookkeeper had one. She and her husband took a trip to Europe with an order using MB Overseas Delivery program, picked it up and drove around Europe for 2 weeks and then had it shipped home by MB. They purchased their 1985 500SEL in that manner too. The Carfax report I copied and pasted above also validates a 1981 Turbo Diesel Wagon existed.

Good luck, Porkchop!
Ew are you kidding me? New and fresh? OMG i just threw up in my mouth a little hang on..........................

That Mercedes is gross. Im sure its a nice ride inside, but their style and grace of todays cars are like no other. Ill have to get used to the new s class, but its the inside that counts most for that car. Im glad they finally moved from the old boxy look of those years, and of the 90's. Now you can really see some ingenious design of their current lineup.

Well, as far as styling, you either love it or hate it. But comparing these million mile capable diesels to the disposable Mercedes of today is just silly.

BTW, I finally got clarification on turbo vs. naturally aspirated - the cut off was 1981 and one site specifically stated 7/81 and another 8/81 so I guess it was sort of a midyear change.
