I got home from a long-ass bike ride today (30 miles - yay me! a new personal record for my bike riding in Los Angeles), and I decided that I'm getting tired of riding along the beach. Sure, it's pretty and all, and there's hot chicks in summer clothes everywhere, but there's also german tourists and newbie rollerbladers and pretty much every other type of clueless dope down there on the bike path, standing around getting in the way or otherwise making an obstacle of themselves. I've had it with all of them, especially the large group who don't, won't, or can't yield to the right!
So I was goofing around with Google Earth again, trying to find a park or something near me where I'd be able to ride my bike on dirt, maybe up and down a few real hills - you know, use my bitchin' Cannondale F600 for what it was made for! Look what I found - I know it has to be a bug, but I thought it was funny -ladies and gentlemen, I give you a Los Angeles city park!! |

Don't be so sure it's a bug.
When I lived in Southern Cal, there was a "park" by my house that was called "Vest Pocket Park"... as in "as small as"... it was the little triangular patch of grass that you get if you have a parking stall that's at an angle to the sidewalk. Had a beautifully constructed wooden sign and everything. Of course, the sign took up 80% of the grass area, leaving little room to sit and have a picnic. |

That's even worse than Schrader Park, which is all of about 20 yards long, and sits alongside one of the busiest streets in the area. I have to laugh everytime I ride past it, because the park is so puny.

It's fun to see that even the smallest piece of "planned" grass is called a park |
