Well, I'm getting married July 4th this summer... As part of our wedding/honeymoon trip we're driving out to Vegas to get hitched, then out to LA for DubWars! Leaving Ohio on July 1st... we're planning on getting a caravan together and having a nice group of Dubs rolling out together.
Anyone interested in joining the posse? There's a post about it on Vortex... http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2373392 I'd like to see some New Beetle love driving out with us!!! |

Have a wonderful trip/honeymoon, and don't let the "NB-haters" at dubwars get you down.

I find that pretty much any and all VW club hates new beetles.
They're not classics, they're a new body on the Golf frame. They're not tuner cars, they're too "gay." Yet every show I go to I'm asked how I keep up in my 2.0, which is bone stock, and loads of compliments on the look. I've also noticed that tuners have no sense of art or style, and usually have a stock-looking car they calll a "sleeper." Coming from two rear ends and a side impact... I want the loudest, most visible car possible. Hence cyber green. the beetle. and all my exterior mods. Not only do I want to be seen, I want to be remembered. Tuners just want to go fast. The only "tuners" I seem to get along with are biodiesel TDI-heads. I just don't do the whole spark-plug combustion performance thing. That was a totally off-topic rant tho. HAVE A GREAT HONEYMOON! That's exactly how I'd want to be married.. if I could ![]() |

We're taking the Touareg instead of the Beetle... It's a lot more comfy for such a long road trip than the autoMAGIC Beetle... Plus I can't fit a wedding dress in there!
We're starting to tune the T-Reg, but I am sure it will not be show-worthy by the time we go... When we first started planning the trip, we still had the R32, which would have been a lot more fun! I think this is the first show we have ever been to together when we weren't showing something... So far we've done FabSpeed secondary cat-bypass pipes, Bilstein shock/spring suspension kit, front (Porsche) and rear (Neuspeed) anti-sway bars, 22x10" MotoForged wheels, GIAC chip... Pioneer Touch-Screen Nav/XM/XMTraffic/iPod Adapter, Alpine 10.2" screen w/ DVD player, integrated bluetooth, OEM rear camera... The Touareg is getting more action than the NB, for sure... I haven't done anything to my car since December!!! Yeah, I know I'm off-topic, too... I'm just excited about the road trip! |

california is, in a sense, a huge mecca for modified cars, and the volkswagen scene is no different. they put a much higher stress on tuned engines and insane suspension with lambo doors than anything else. as long as you are rocking ten TVs in your car, you'll fit in just fine.
well either way, your honeymoon should be awesome. it is southern california after all. we have EVERYTHING out here! |
