I've agonized for months over this decision but I finally sold my NBC. I really loved the car in so many ways. Ultimately the primary reasons for selling were limited performance potential (even though it was a 1.8t) and impracticality.
Here's my favorite picture of the Beetle:
I was originally going to sell the car with all the mods but I found that most people didn't want them. So I ended up selling the wheels, brakes, steering wheel, pedals, and seats. Soon I'll post a huge yard sale of accessories and mods that I either pulled from the car or never intalled. Check the .org classifieds in the next few days!
When I bought the Beetle, it was actually a compromise. I had a deposit on an
.:R32 but as some of you know, they were delayed coming to the states. So I bought the Beetle since I've always thought they were cool... especially the vert.
My recent purchase is really a matter of going back to square one...
What did I buy?
An
'04 Reflex Silver .:R32, 19,000 miles, totally stock.
The first round of mods will be coilover suspension and tint.
Some people don't think the
.:R32 is that fast; it's not a drag racer that's for sure but Top Gear proved overall quickness on their test track... the R is in pretty good company if you ask me.
There's already a supercharger kit and a few turbo kits for this car producing 450+ horsepower. A few tuners have plans of tuning this engine for 6-700 hp!!! This is the car you want for that kind of power... AWD and sleeper looks!
I have no plans of leaving the .org. I really appreciate the fun and encouraging atmosphere here. Keep on buggin!
