Default United 93 - review

OK, so I wasn't to keen on the idea of seeing this movie. I thought it would be morbid and terrible, but I went to see it anyway.

It was a very intense movie. Very emotional. But I'm not sorry I saw it. It's the only movie I have ever been to where, when the movie ended, everyone sat still and silent in their seats, digesting what they had just seen. When it was over, all I could do was sigh.

After the movie ended and we were on our way out, that's when I started feeling some of the emotions come back to me that I felt that day. It just really hits you hard, remembering when it happened, where you were, how you felt - the fear, anger, sadness, and confusion. It made something that happened almost 5 years ago seem very close and real again.

I'd say overall, it was worth seeing. It was very tastefully done, and although I am sure much artistic license was taken with several of the scenes, the movie was defintely not exaggerated or inappropriate to the memory of those affected by 9/11. Actually, several of the FAA, Air Traffic Controller people, and military people in the movie played themselves. It was much more a re-enactment than an "action movie."

That's just my $0.02.

I want to see that movie, but I have to be ready for all the emotions that will come back. My grandparents saw it and thought it was tastefully done. My grandpa is retired from United and my dad is in his 21st year for United.

So...where were you? I was on my way to class at 7:15. My mom and I were sharing a car then and when I turned on the engine, the radio was on. The deejay was saying something about a plane crashing in NYC. I turned off the radio because I had just received my license and wasn't allowed to listen to it. We didn't get any work done that day during our classes. The high school gathered together and prayed and then we went through our usual classes. Every room had a TV so we could watch what was going on. All I wanted to do was see my mom and dad and hug them. I remember feeling so angry. The image of people jumping from the Twin Towers is embedded in my mind forever. I didn't really laugh for a couple weeks afterwards. I couldn't be happy. I didn't listen to any kind of music for almost a month. When I heard the recordings of passengers on UA 93, I cried. There is no way I can comprehend the hatred in the hearts of those people that did that to us. I know they have received punishment and that's all I can ask for.

On our way to the Round Up, my mom and I visited the Oklahoma City Museum and Memorial. I cried when I saw a teddy bear that belonged to one of the 19 children killed. Friends from church have been Ground Zero and they say that the experience truly changed them.

I think the movie will serve to remind the American people what happened on 9-11 and that there are still terrorists who would love to do something like this or bigger.
