Question Music Conversion Program

I need a music conversion program that will convert most music files to MP3 format. Need it for my new RAZR V3 cell phone program. It needs to be low cost or free. Thanks

I *think* winamp will rip mp3s. There is a free version of it.

What format are they in now? Some formats are as easy as just renaming the file with the .mp3 suffix added at the end. Or am I thinking you need a conversion software program, like apple itunes to convert your music so that it is compatible with your phone.

I use FairStars Audio Converter

http://www.fairstars.com/audioconverter/index.htm

It handles .flac (which I needed it for, mostly), RealMedia, .ape, .ogg, .asf... everything I've thrown at it so far.

Here's a complete list:
Quote:
FairStars Audio Converter is a media file conversion tool to convert WAV, RealMedia(RM, RA, RMJ, RAM, RMJ, RMVB), AIFF, AU, Creative VOC, PVF, IFF, SVX, APE, FLAC, OGG, VQF, MP1, MP2, MP3, WMA, WMV, ASF to WMA, MP3, VQF, OGG, FLAC, APE, WAV formats.
It'll also performs volume normalization for you, and can suck in and convert id3 tags so they're preserved, no matter what format you're converting to. And it's dang fast!

It's $25, which was a small price to pay for everything I do. But they also have a free trial... it has a 180 second limit for the save file... but that should be sufficient for any ring tones you want to create for your RAZR.

iTunes wont convert wma's and stuff to mp3...not sure of any program that does. I use Audacity to convert .ogg files to mp3 and I tried doing that with .wma files but it wont.

i've used it before and it's simple and free. good luck!

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

Thumbs up

All you folks are great. Thanks for the leads. Just don't know now which one to choose yet. I tried Advanced WMA and it did just fine. Still haven't chosen one yet to purchase. Thanks.

I have one called Smart Audio Converter. I think, I payed $20.00 for it, but it was worth the money since I convert windows files to mp3's on an almost daily basis.
