What's with the Porno Ads?

I have noticed in the last week or so that there has been someone posting ads for viagra and porn on the site lately,Where,Who,How is this being done and what is being done to stop this? I hope there is no harm in me asking this,If so the Mods should delete this.

I'm thinking it's someone that's not to happy with the site and wants to spam it with porn and childporn to upset staff and members.

Hopefully the IP addy of the fool that posted the lolita crap, was fowarded to proper [cartman voice]authoritahs!![/cartman voice] and hopefully some IP Bans will help solve the prob.

If you see anymore spammers, porn, drug, decoration, or anything, report it at once. Do not reply to their threads. We are getting inundated with these jerks, and we are trying to keep them out, or banned immediately.

Where do we reported to or how? Maybe they should install a "Report Post/Thread" Hack. I've seen it on other sites, just click a button to report.

unbelievable...the porn and the viagra ads...

particularly maddening (at least to me) are some of who've decided to grace us with action photos of their wares...i happened to click on one of "those" posts at work the other day...not fun walking into the boss to 'splain what just popped up on my screen. good thing the spammers weren't within arm's length.

we've been dealing with it on our local aircooled site for a long time.

props to CrazyJames---he's given me and the Peninsula VW Club some very good advice, and we've been able to shut down "our" spammers from posting. downside is each and every new user is individually approved by myself or the other admin.

it's manageable for us, as we have less than 100 regular users...we normally have one or two no-kidding new users among the one to two hundred registrations per month. don't think our solution would work for the .org...Newbeetle.org has over 17,000 registered users and a boatload more traffic, etc., etc.

still, the spammers and spambots keep coming...we had to shut down our guest book this week...75 pages of porn links...we'd gotten out of the habit of checking it daily, and so it became a great back door into our site (no pun intended).

so, i imagine noR, CrazyJames, and all the mods are working on a solution that remains easy to register, post, etc. etc. but also helps the mods ensure newbeetle.org remains a more-or-less friendly site.

hope it slows down soon...i'll just keep reporting posts whenever i see 'em, and help where i can.

it's there...the yellow triangle with exclamation point at the top right of the post.

(i'd like to see a report post button on the index...so i don't have to DISPLAY the post...to avoid the work fun i had earlier this week. ). just don't know if the forum software can do that.
