That's almost as bad as that jetta pic with all that wood on it's roof. What were they thinking?

glad thats in texas rather than in arkansas. i feel that much safer now. gonna load down the truck with trash this april.

They're doing it all wrong.
You have to tie red streamers to the ends of the ladder for it to be legal.

I thought it was pretty much an established rule not to mention that picture... to avoid having people post it in threads??

As far as the ladder goes... it could have been worse. One time I brought some long (~15 feet each) bamboo poles home in my Cabriolet, top down, poles starting in the passenger footwell, tied to the roll bar. Sort of like a giant bamboo spoiler!
