that's how those second hand places work. i used to take stuff and buy stuff at baby resale shops. i did better listing my stuff on craigslist or ebay and buying stuff on clearance from Target.

Next time throw it up on Craigslist. Set the price higher than you actually want so you have room to barter. Of course there are always lowballers but there's always someone out there willing to spend money.

EDIT: Dammit Katie beat me...I didn't see this was a 2-page thread

Next time I get rid of Coach stuff, I'm putting it on the .org. I get rid of 3-4 coach bags a year!

Thumbs down Platos Closet Rip Off

I know they are! I was just there 15 minutes ago and I had over 200$ worth of clothes up on the counter and she took the ugliest **** that i had to sell, I mean old stuff like stuff my grandma wouldn't even wear.... I had brought in two dressy shirts worth at least 70$ collectively and she said that they were too dressy for what plato's closet sells, and thats bull****, because ive bought dressy shirts there. Another piece of clothing was picked up and put aside, and i confront her, she says.." ohh, theres a stain right there....(points to little itty bitty stain on a sexy pair of heels) and trust me it was itty bitty, and some of he stuff I've bought in Plato's Closet is in far worse condition than what my heels were in. There were handbags that had huge rips in them, and shirts on the clearance rack that had huge holes in them and you won't buy my Suzy Shier from me? Stupid picky bitches.

If you don't like what Plato's Closet will 'pay' you for your used clothes, you always have the option of selling them yourself. Much like trading in a car or using a real estate agent to sell your home, the 'retailer' is usually in a better position to sell things because he can appeal to a larger market than an individual can. The 'shop' also has the advantage of driving traffic of traditional buyers who are browsing.

Anyway...sorry it didn't work for you. If enough people have bad experiences, the marketplace will put them out of business.
