Quote:
TV Moderator Tim Russert, 58, Dies Suddenly
June 13, 2008

Television political analyst Tim Russert died suddenly of a massive heart attack this afternoon at the age of 58.

Former news anchor Tom Brokaw interrupted NBC's broadcast to make the announcement shortly before 3:30 p.m.

Russert collapsed in NBC's news bureau in Washington, D.C. while recording voice-overs for Sunday's "Meet the Press," a political-themed weekly show that he moderated since 1991.

Russert was also the political analyst for "NBC Nightly News" and the "Today" Program and anchored "The Tim Russert Show," a weekly interview program on CNBC, and was a contributing anchor for MSNBC.

Russert also served as senior vice president and Washington bureau chief of NBC News.

Russert was born in Buffalo, N.Y. in 1950 and joined NBC News in 1984.

In 2008, Time Magazine named Russert one of the 100 most influential people in the world. He was awarded an Emmy in 2005 for his role in reporting the former President Ronald Reagan's funeral.

Renowned for his interviews of prominent politicians, Russert said in a 2007 Time Magazine interview, "The job of the host is to learn as much as you can about your guest’s positions and take the other side, and to do that in a persistent and civil way. And that’s what I try to do every Sunday.”

Before his television career, Russet worked as a press secretary for former New York Governor Mario Cuomo and chief of staff for the late New York Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

Russert, a longtime New York Yankees fan, is survived by his wife, writer Maureen Orth, and his son Luke.
I always looked forward to watching Meet the Press on Sunday mornings when politics is heated and for making famous the Dry Erase election tote board.

Shocking news.

Now they are saying Cardiac Arrest...not Heart Attack...but this is still early speculation.

Man, what a shock!! My husband and I would tune in nearly every Sunday to watch him. This year's election isn't going to be the same without him.

Godspeed, Tim.

That is a sad loss. One less logical voice in the world of the press.

I really liked his straightforwardness. I read today the autopsy revealed an enlarged heart. How in the world could they do an autopsy that quick? Anyway, Tim, we will miss you! BTW, here is the link where they mention the autopsy:http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25145431/?GT1=43001

Not a follower of politics, but I was well aware of Tim Russert. I am sure he will be sorely missed.

I'm still in shock. Wether Liberal, Conservative, or moderate, Tim was well respected by all He touched. Tim was a professional, yet a regular guy, that was admired by so many, myself included. Tim's personality trancended his profession, which caused Him to be loved by those on the left and the right, as well as countless colleagues beyond NBC. I, like Tim, credit my success and talents to my Father James C. Stewart. It is His unashamed display of love, and respect for His father, Big Russ, that makes me feel kindred to Him.

Rest in Peace Tim, you will be greatly missed. And thank you for a legacy that will impact countless lives.
