Default A favor gets you hot sauce...

This is a long shot and i know it's not like me to make one of these crazi posts, but here goes...

I will hook up with free homemade hot sauce and spice concoctions for a limited lifetime (read: as long as i still enjoy making them) the person who links me to a job in my area that can net me near $50k a year at least.

I'm on Monster, Careerbuilder, 2 staffing agencies, registered to apply for government jobs, and am attending a career fair this month. Aside from hitting the pavement with my resume in hand, i'm doing most all i can while holding down one full time and one part time job.

my email is my org name at yahoo. easy enough, right? send me links please. I have managed within this company for the last 3 years. I department manager in the accounts receivable department. I have led a team of 15 employees.

I have some college experience and kick ass on a computer.

I'll even send you neeto Beetle toys to go with the spicy yummies and even some pasta sauce from my kitchen.

I'll continue working on my end. Any and all help is appreciated.

You may wanna change your offer.

You are simply saying you'll hook anyone up who "links" you to jobs in your area making $50k. You may want to add that you must actually get the job.

Otherwise, we could all send you links to jobs and you'll owe us all a ton of hot sauce.

No, I department manager!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Here's my advice, go to some companies you'd like to work for, and talk to someone there. See if they are hiring, leave a resume. Sometimes you have to go after the company instead of the company finding you.

These things take time. Sometimes years. I found my current job on monster.com and it took about 2 years. Have someone look over your resume, too. A well-crafted resume works wonders.

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

combine the well-crafted resume with an original cover letter and start cold-faxing, mailing, emailing companies you'd like to get your foot in the door with.

it's a little slower than responding to actual openings - but it helps.

i'd be happy to help you format your resume and/or give you cover letter tips and tricks. i've worked in some capacity of HR for the past 7-8 years.

This may not but much help, but have you tried indeed.com. It scrapes from Monster, careerbuilder, HR postings on websites and other places I'm sure. It may make some of you searching a bit easier? It's helped some of my friends...

Erin, leave it to you to pick on a typo.

And as Pete mentioned, i'm not offering free sauce to everyone, but if you are responsible for landing me the job...you know the rest.

I really need a place to just grab some hints mostly. I have no idea how the modern world gets a job. I figure i'm off to a good start. Yes, i already plan on cold-faxing my resume to companies, but i don't know who i'd like to work for.

My interview today went alright, but i don't know if i could handle being an insurance salesman. If i sell stuff, than great. If not, than what?

Most of the companies I ever worked for, simply threw away resumes that just show-up un-announced. So I'm not sure how well that'd go.

But, I'm sure he'll find something
