We'll pay for it later this evening in the form of some serious storms.

Well, they do have diesel versions, in Europe. For now, the A-Class is not planned for sale in the US

The base price for the A-160 CDI BlueEfficiency Coupe is about €21K ...

Ew, it kinda looks like a Honda Fit that way.

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

I think my sister-in-law got one last fall. I just barely got a look at it while I was visiting back in August. If it can get near 50MPG, and looking like that, I'd trade in one of my cars for it

edit: car, she got a car ... not a mule

Awwww, he's cute.

I got my AeroGarden today for the low, low price of $60. Bed Bath and Beyond had the $150 unit for $21 off, plus I had a 20% off coupon and a $50 gift card. I am soooooo excited to watch stuff grow. I would have never paid $150 for something like this, but $60, sure! Woot!

Hahahaha! I wonder how hard it would be to get an A-class imported? If I could get one here, I could get it licensed in KY. We can license pretty much ANYTHING.

I looked at that... They don't sell them in Canada, even, so importing one will be expensive, and there may be extensive modifications needed to make it comply with US safety and emission standards.

It may not meet our emissions standards, but I can get pretty much anything titled here (as long as it hasn't been reported stolen). We can get titls for vehicles through a process called "Assembled From Scrap" (dune buggy), just as long as you can prove that you own, they'll throw a title of some kind on it at one of the smaller county court houses.

We have SUPER laxed titling laws here and no emissions inspections.

Now you've got me really curious about this! If you've ever been down to Miami, FL they export a THOUSANDS of cars every week on cargo ships.

Like you said, it would be costly to do it by the "book" getting it spec'd up to US standards. Can they really be THAT much worse for the environment than a new 10 Litre Dodge that gets 8mpg?

ok, the A160, A180 and A200 are CDI (diesel), while the A150, A170 an A200 are gas (yes, the A200 have both engine). The BlueEfficiency appears to be only available on all models in Germany. This may become more widespread in 2009. With the auto-crisis in the US, it has been speculated that MB will increase its presence in the US.

US "safety and emission standards" doesn't have anything to do with safety and emissions, silly ...
