I think its sexy as hell when a woman shoots a gun...as long as its not at me. There's something very attractive about a woman well versed in self defense. With that said, I've never taken a chick to the gun range, but I'm diggin' the idea!

My mom called me this morning and gave me the "You'd better save your money...it's not looking good" convo. Yikes. I guess I should get my debt paid off.

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

This is really scary stuff. It is. That's why we've decided to wait on buying a house. It's better for us in the long run. Our credit will be better by the time we go to buy one, we'll hopefully have more money saved, we'll have more debt paid down.

It really is a scary time. I've always felt secure in my job, and I'm sure I am, but these are the times where you can never be too sure.

Too many companies going under, even the big guys. All this bail out stuff, the government now owning a piece of companies. I dunno. I think this is just the beginning.

I'm trying to be optimistic...at least about some things. Our company is doing OK. We're regional, small(er) and family-owned with about 200 employees. We don't seem to be having any real pain just yet.

Yeah, same here. We do outsourced transcription, so I figure, healthcare is something people always need, so we wouldn't be affected. We had a company meeting a few weeks ago, and I guess our transcriptionists have been concerned because volumes are down.

Hadn't thought of it, but there is such a thing as elective surgery, and at times like these, that's an easy thing to cut back on. So healthcare does get affected. Not as much as other industries, but still.

Looks like Citi may be going up for sale. I may be out of a jobby-job soon.

I also tend to think, in my case, the Midwest doesn't see the extremes the coasts do sometimes. House prices are roughly the same as they have been. Things have been the same here for most of us.

What's frustrating to me, and something I wonder about is this: Is it possible that when the news each night talks all this doom and gloom, well, could it be a little of a self-fulfilling prophecy? We hear things are bad, we tighten our wallets, the economy slips. The news has been whispering recession and depression for months now, so maybe what's happened, at least to some extent, is that it scared people and they stopped spending.

Also, I read a story on msnbc.com this morning about how low gas prices can be bad for the economy, too. Sheesh! We can't win! Crisis when they're high and fear when they're low! I'm going to stop watching the news I think.

ugh.. not my favorite topic. I've personally lost around 200K, and I'm not sure if I will have a job post merger. If I do survive I'm pretty sure I will take a hefty hit in total compensation.

In a bit of a desparation move, I just purchased 20,000 shares of Ford at 1.43. All it needs to do is go up to 3.00 then I'm out and take the proceeds and run. If there is any shred of a govt program to aid the automotive industry, then 3.00 per share should be an easy target.

The equity market is like the Lottery. "You've got to be in it to win it"

Yikes.

I've lost about $500 in my 401K, but I moved all my stuff before the economy went in the pooper. I don't care what anyone said, I got tired of seeing me putting in $100 and losing $150.

So wait, if I lose my job due to the economy, I still get unemployment right?

Absolutely. In fact, I've heard some talk from a few friends in Washington that they might even extended the benefits due to the saging economy, which will probably translate into a longer period of eligibility. That should really help a lot of people as it will most likely take longer than normal to secure a new job.
