I'm just naive enough to go out there and try to feed it or pet it.

Who knew old people could be funny? I guess when you're 90, there's not enough time to be picky. I guess the same could be said for any age; seeing that none of us are guaranteed tomorrow.

OMG, I wasn't sure I even wanted to step out of the house to take the picture, never mind get close enough to feed or pet him/her - all I know is that it was bigger than any of us in the house and was moving quick!
I was probably about 15 feet from him/her and that was plenty close for me

You totally need that bear to walk around your apartment once or twice to take care of those pesky kids who want to get in Vivi's grill.

OMG!!!! Never ever get that close again! And it's a black bear. More attacks by them than grizzly! Please Please promise you won't do that again!

My initial guess is a Fairlane from the mid 50s but I'm not THAT familiar with older cars.
