RX-7 >>> RX-8

That being said, the RX-7 probably didn't have great mileage either, due to, as Shannon said, the need for high RPM to get any kind of torque from the rotary engine. Still, nearly 300 ponies in that little car...

So, with that mileage, would the RX-8 have qualified for the CARS program?

I can't remember what the rules were for the CARS program. The RX8 has a combined EPA estimate of 18mpg. Was 18 accepted or was it below 18? It was either 18mpg and below could be 'clunkered' or anything below 18? Either way, you'd need to be bitch-slapped in the face with a steel shovel for ditching a RX8 for $3,500/$4,500. That was the STUPIDEST idea I've heard in a LONG time.

I just got out of the shower and I have a bite on my heel and one on my right butt cheek. I'm leaving for TX in 3.5 hours and I gotta feeling I'm gonna be in for some itchin'. acks the calamine:

Just for the record, I wouldn't have "clunkered" the RX-8 for a meager $4500. But, I do think the later model RX-7 looks a lot better than the RX-8 ...

For clarification, I was referring to the CARS program being stupid, not your mention of the RX8 qualifying.

My question though, with your visibility being limited, are you still allowed to drive a car?
Indeed. It's not as bad as I thought it might be; of course, it's not complete yet. I have only done 500 shots out of 1200. Maybe a bit more, I have been told.

Today whilst driving around, I just turned my head a bit more to the left when needed, then before. Honestly, it's not bad. Could be worse; could be blind all the way.

One of my older brothers is 'legally' blind, and yet can still drive a car. Just at night it gets harder for him.

I think I might have to Google 'blind' to see just what does it mean.

Okay. So I am trying to quote something here, but I keep getting told that I can't post it; I had something like this in the Football thread the other day. What is up with that?

Okay, so I went to another car site, which has a test forum, and C/P what I wanted to C/P here, and no problem. SO does nB ORG have some sort of new code that does not allow for C/P anymore?

blindness
from wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

blindness is the condition of lacking visual perception due to physiological or neurological factors.

Various scales have been developed to describe the extent of vision loss and define blindness.[1] total blindness is the complete lack of form and visual light perception and is clinically recorded as nlp, an abbreviation for "no light perception."[1] blindness is frequently used to describe severe visual impairment with residual vision. Those described as having only light perception have no more sight than the ability to tell light from dark and the general direction of a light source.

in order to determine which people may need special assistance because of their visual disabilities, various governmental jurisdictions have formulated more complex definitions referred to as legal blindness.[2] in north america and most of europe, legal blindness is defined as visual acuity (vision) of 20/200 (6/60) or less in the better eye with best correction possible.

blindness is defined as visual acuity of less than 3/60 (20/400), or corresponding visual field loss to less than 10 degrees, in the better eye with best possible correction.[4][5]

it should be noted that blind people with undamaged eyes may still register light non-visually for the purpose of circadian entrainment to the 24-hour light/dark cycle. Light signals for this purpose travel through the retinohypothalamic tract, so a damaged optic nerve beyond where the retinohypothalamic tract exits it is no hindrance.

Beauty. Almost like a mini Viper coupe.

There were a LOT of stupid cars that qualified, including new Ferraris and Lambos, and that poor, poor Maserati Biturbo. If I had known about it, I seriously would have bought it.

I still want (or maybe I don't) to see proof that the Maserati was actually 'clunkered'. My guess is someone came along and offered the dealership the $3,500 or $4,500 (maybe more) for it and they just wrote it off that way instead of having to deal with the Government backlog for the rebates.

Interesting theory.... I wonder how many other times that happened. You KNOW there have got to be some gems out there in clunker land.
