Oh no! My in-laws are hinting that they want to join us on our vacation next October! That would be an absolute NIGHTMARE! My fath-in-law is a control freak and has to schedule every last minute of his vacation and he yells if things are off schedule by one minute! We invited them to a wine festival one weekend and Vinny told them to meet us the parking lot of a nearby grocery store. His father called back and said "Meet us in this other parking lot." First of all: Vinny needed to go to the bank in the other shopping center to use the ATM and second: the parking lot my FIL told us to meet him in was on the other side of the road so leaving was a big PITA. He didnt need anything from there so he just did it so he could be "in control". So Vinny said "Wait right here. I have to run in and use the ATM." so just so he could do the opposite of what his son asked him to do he said "I'm going to wait for you on the side of the road." Ummmm why would you do that when you have a big empty parking lot to wait for us in and the road is extremely busy? PLEASE! NO!! I can't go on vacation with them!!!!!! If they paid for my vacation I still wouldnt go! I can take them in small doses but for a whole week! No!

OK...sorry. Rant over

Obviously Vinny knows how he is, so just say no. It might not be the nicest thing in the world, but you have some time to come with with a creative excuse. Like...You two want to start a family the following year and need privacy during this vacation for wild, kinky, hanging swings from the ceiling monkey sex.

I have no other choice. No friends to room with. And, even just $100 rent would break me. Since Sallie Mae wants their $1,000+ starting in January ... I just cant. That is a pay check for me

I have applied for a few 'freelance' gigs ... and, I should hear back soon. End of month sort of deal.
Wow, that stinks. Are there any other part time jobs that can tide you over? (as I type this, the reality of this stupid question is setting in...)

I know, lets start an Org benefit for you...like Woodstock, sans the mud and peace and love, but substituting cash.

"OrgStock"? "DP-Stock"? "Larissa-Stock"? "Zoomer-Stock"?

Anyone have a band?

Anyone ever been to Florence for more than a few days?
Florence Italy? (or Frienze in Italian) Yes, why?

I actually always say that when we go on vacation (not so descriptively)because he jokes and says he's going to knock on our hotel door. He shuts up after I say that. Sometimes when he says that I'll just say something like "I guess you don't want grandchildren." or "We might not answer the door because we'll be busy making you a grandfather." My mother-in-law isn't so bad but my sister-in-law, who has no life, would be going, too. She's like a damn bump on a log and she acts like we need to entertain her and she's just plain rude because everyone feels like they need to walk on eggshells around her because she threatens to kill herself everytime she doesn't get her way I invited her over one night to just hang out and watch movies. So when she called to ask when I wanted her to come over I told her when I would be ready for her to head over and then I said "I'm gonna order a pizza." and she said "I had that for dinner last night but I guess it's ok" How rude?! And she is the opposite of fun. I like to be silly and she just looks at me like I have 20 heads. I'm used to getting weird looks but hers are just...snotty.

Poor Amy! The next time she threatens to 'off herself', tell her that actions speak louder than words. On second thought, better not.

I think its best for your sanity to figure out a way to get out of them going with you.

Edit:

Where are you guys planning to go next year?

We're thinking of going back to Disney World or a cruise. They'll cost about the same.

Hours too late and the Org is addictive, but... you should've gone to bed when you took the meds. If you keep yourself busy then it won't work

Euh... For being a Euro-person I think that's weird. Does it mean Zoomer is from May 2003?

Yup. If you been Florence or Firenze in Italy (just like CAM said) I've been there, but just for a day. Took the train from the coast. Went to Tuscany by car. All by myself

Yes he does! I get so angry whenever I see him around "strangers" because he is so nice! It actually makes me a little nauseous. But when it's just the 5 of us he is cranky. He kinda reminds me of the father from That 70's Show. He stops just short of calling Vinny a dumb ass all the time. Poor Vinny. He just wants a normal relationship with his father and his father acts like he's in competition with him. He never taught him how to fix things (not that he really knows how to, either) and never did father/son things with him. And when we were moving in together and they didn't approve his mother said "Your Uncle Matt (her twin sister's husband) wants to have a man-to-man talk with you." Why? Is his father not man enough for that? I guess not! Sorry...he's said some pretty hurtful unecessary things to me in the past and if he had any idea the things I have done for his son he wouldnt have been so quick to judge me. But then again, maybe he would have. Thats how they are. Very judgemental. I have bent over backwards to do things for Vinny and they have no idea...they can't see what's right in front of them. It's sad.

I have some good information at home, as I spent about a week there. It is most certainly one of my favorite spots in Italy.

I'll send you some info when I get a chance to dig out my folder with all the spots I hit while being there.

That's sad indeed I'm so sorry you've had and have to go through this.

Be sure to bring quarters on your flight if you are in need for the bathroom. I've read Ryan Air wants to charge people for a peepee.
